10 mins from our hotel (Sala Phuket) is this absolutely gorgeous restored Thai family home. With 4 bedrooms as a hotel, museum and restaurant it is a really special one of a kind dinner out. The “museum” is walking through the family home which has been decorated by a local artist with painted murals on the walls and displays of how they once may have lived with generations of family photos. It really is beautifully done. We were lucky as they had no hotel guests we were also able to see the lovely hotel rooms as well. I believe the restaurant is in the original kitchen of the home with one long table - guests being separated from other groups with central floral displays. The details in the decorations were so creative and well done. Our dinner was delicious and we also had the fried fish with fragrant herbs which needs to be preordered which we did when we made our reservation. It was delicious as was everything we ordered. We are planning to return before we finish this holiday. Not cheap our dinner would be about $35 AUD per person before alcohol but we thought more than worth it. It’s a real treat when you find something so unique and special and presented with such passion, care and thought. Highly recommended if you are north of Phuket airport.

Tonight was our second visit to this beautiful place in two weeks. The family are super friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the rum cocktails before ordering our food. The host explained the menu to us and some of us shared the spring rolls as starters. All the food was excellent, including the omelette, prawns in tamarind sauce and chicken with cashew nuts. The secret recipe pad Thai was great too. After enjoying the delicious food and service we all enjoyed a tour of the museum, which is the house belonging to the current family dating back to 1936. We would highly recommend a visit to this magical place. We will be returning before we go back to the UK.

Really enjoyed the food at this restaurant, we came twice during our trip! Our favourites are the pork red curry with rambutan, the local tofu, local vegetable with sweet & spicy sauce, and the deep fried noodle dish. Everything was delicious and not the typical/common Thai food we can find elsewhere. Restaurant was kid-friendly and provided colouring pencils for kids to decorate the paper placemats (which has a picture of the house/restaurant). It's a bit far from everything but not far from the airport so could be a totally worthwhile detour on the way from/to. Our only feedback to them would be to provide better options for water. They only have small bottles, with even smaller cups and charged quite a lot for it compared to the prices of the food.

Every once in a while, if you keep your ear to the ground, you will discover a hidden gem. Such a place is Baan A-Jor near Mai Khao beach in Phuket. This restaurant not only serves some of the best Thai food I’ve ever eaten, it is located in a charming old house that has been lovingly renovated by the fourth generation grandson of the original owner. (If you have time, I recommend taking the house/museum tour after you eat.) We had the rambutan red curry with shrimp and the tamarind prawns, both of which were beautifully presented and delicious, featuring a perfect combination of flavors. Unfortunately, we discovered this place on our last night in Phuket, but we already are looking forward to sampling their other dishes, especially the crispy noodles, on our next visit.

My wife and I enjoyed a truly enjoyable meal in this totally unique 1936 mansion. This restaurant is like no other and we will never forget how well we were treated by everyone. Nothing was too much trouble. Oh, and the food - fresh, local ingredients and everything we ate was packed with flavour. Please try the stewed belly pork, it is cooked for 6 hours and is utterly delicious. The owner gave us a personal tour of the museum which we very much appreciated. While you are in Phuket please visit this beautiful place - you won't regret it!

I don't think this place need much fanfare from me. All comments and reviews contributed before just speaks huge about this place already. Came here several times for meals whiles I was in the Phuket Sandbox. The food was just outstanding. Every dish was specially crafted, prepared and cooked. The museum was beautiful and well laid out. We were very lucky to have gotten one of the owners to take us on a tour of the house that day, Everyone were so friendly and personal. I highly recommend this place for a visit as well as a meal.

Fantastic experience visiting this heritage home. 4th generation owner and family have spent years restoring a 1936 family home, turning part of it into this restaurant. The story behind this place is amazing, and all their profit goes toward helping local schools. The dishes were wonderful - try the grilled pork curry, and crispy noodles!

It's like a time travel. It brings you right back to 1936. Everything on the menu is simply irresistible, let alone all ingredients are fresh from the local community. After the meal, do pay a visit to their museum which located next to the restaurant. You will gonna be amazed. There is also a room for homestay, it is not just another hotel room, it's a room from a mansion built 86 years ago!!! Before you leave, don't forget to make some donation to their foundation as it will go directly to the children in needs in Phuket.

Family owned for 4 generations, house built in 1936 and both a restaurant and museum. House was completely rehabilitated in 2019. Everything hand made and local, food was fresh. I can't think of anything they could do better. Tour of museum came with small fee that is donated back to education. I plan to go back later this week for dinner and try the cocktail.

The food was delicious! Totally didn’t regret the 20 min drive from our hotel. My family (with 3yo toddler) enjoyed the food very much. We ordered the fried omelette, toast with meat, braised pork, fried rice and vegetables. Plain jasmine rice is complimentary. There weren’t many diners when we visited on a Monday so we had a nice and quiet lunch. The restaurant staff were all very friendly and provided us with colour pencils for my toddler right after we sat down. Highly recommended!

We visited this restaurant during a two week stay in Mai Khao. During our stay we probably visited some of the very best restaurants on the island - Kata Rocks, Black Ginger, Tiffin, Takeing etc etc. We can honestly say that the food we had here was the best of the lot. The food wasn’t as appealing on the eye, or rich in taste, but was much more delicate in flavour. You could eat here every night for the rest of your life. This is the only restaurant we could have eaten in twice! The restaurant itself gives a lot back the local community and has a very positive feel to it. The whole experience was very heartwarming and humble experience (and extremely good value for money too if that’s your thing!)

This restaurant was highly recommended by the concierge at our hotel, the JW Marriott. It’s about 5-8 min by car. We were able to get a reservation a couple of hours before, and are so glad we tried it! Lovely decor, great service and delicious food! Lots of options on the menu. The grounds are beautiful!

Food was excellent! A fusion of Thai & Chinese. The building was beautiful and there was so much to take in. We enjoyed our first visit so much, we went again for a second time. The first time, we over ordered although the lovely host did tell us to stop. We enjoyed over the two visits, the famous belly pork stew, the chicken massaman curry with roti breads, an orange curry with seabass amongst so many! We enjoyed everything- my son thought the spring rolls were the best. Highly recommended- do not miss going here if you are in the Mai Khao area or even beyond!

Phuket’s best kept secret! Best meal we had in Phuket! Everything is hand made, and grown on the property and all proceeds are donated back to the community. Amazing hospitality from the hosts with a beautiful location (although a little hard to find). We had a fantastic time here and would certainly recommend this to everyone! They also offer homestay on the property however we just came for dinner. We will be back again!
