We only ate dinner here but the setting is one of the best in the area - very festive- the night we were there a band was playing some great reggae music. The gave us all a complimentary bowl of pumpkin soup - delicious! I had a shrimp with garlic/butter and rice - a fairly small portion - not for... More

Thank you for sharing about the food , setting and music. I've had a talk with the chef about the portion of Shrimp that's served on the Reggae Barbecue night and for those that follow they can thank you for a larger serving. Gracias! More

After five years of eating out almost every meal, I thought I knew all the best places to eat but I was wrong. I was led to a gem by Jim Mac Dougall who wanted me to hear the great reggae band at Costa Del Papito every Friday night. I went for the music. What I got was great music... More

We were there for our last night in Puerto Viejo The restaurant is very beautiful, all in wood furniture, wall and roof in thatch; it gives a warm atmosphere. Unfortunately we were the only one in the restaurant even if the food was very good and the service excellent. I wish more people discover this lovely place

Back for a second stay at La Costa de Papito and the dinner we had was even better than last time! First of all the setting is amazing-huge thatch roof restaurant with thick wood tables-all handmade. The staff couldn't be better-friendly and attentive. Now about the food! WOW! Is all I need to say! I had the grilled tuna in... More

We had watered down fruit juices, over cooked chewy fish with bland sauces and boring beans and carrots with no taste. This was not the Caribbean meal I was expecting having had some great ones elsewhere. Don't waste your money here.

We have been visiting La Costa de Papito for ten years. During our first few years visiting the area we always stayed in the bungalows and we have enjoyed the restaurant on many occasions. We have a great fondness for the resort and invited friends to join us for meal this week. We were greeted in a friendly manner and... More

I went to this restaurant with 13 other people and 11 out of the 14 of us said the food was horrible. The safe was great and the place looks great as well but they were understaffed and the food took 2 hours to make. Unfortunately my friends and I will not be returning. And it was very expensive.

The sun was out here, not even a breeze as hurricane OTTO hit north in Nicaragua, as always happens. The media panic however sent everyone visiting the coast running and almost every reservation for the next week was cancelled. Our hotel like so many others was empty. Restaurant staff was sent home, suppliers didn’t show with products and we had... More

I had read the reviews and decided to give it a try. I ordered the tuna with balsamic sauce cooked medium. They served a beautiful soup and bread, quite delicious. My main course came and the tuna was a wee bit dry. However, the veg and yucca was spot on. There was some kind of conference going on and I'm... More

We have eaten here multiple times while staying in La Costa de Papito or the neighboring Azania. The buffet breakfasts are always plentiful with many options to choose from, including lots of fruit, the traditional gallo pinto and queso blanco, toast, often an omelet bar, and juices. Dinners are flavorful and varied, with large portions. Even if you don't stay... More
