Was recommended this establishment by the owner of Duhill Cottage B&B (review to follow) Excellent menu which is not too extensive however there is a good variety on offer. Very rustic on the inside which gives a lovely atmosphere even if dining alone. Staff were all very pleasant and professional. I would advise to book a table in advance as... More

There are a number of restaurants in Hillsborough and all tend to be busy over the Christmas period. As we were planning a Friday night I thought it prudent to book in advance using the online booking system on their website. Unfortunately the Hillside does not monitor its online bookings so booking online does not work. By the preceding Monday... More

Came here during lunch and was packed with Christmas party's, the staff still managed to accommodate us with a smile, food was everything you wanted it to be, service was slow although can be forgiven due to crowd on the day

I had the misfortune to be invited to this venue again this Xmas for a business Lunch that was prebooked weeks in advance. The food was, at best, akin to a works canteen. The Crab starter was an indeterminate mousse that was bland. The traditional Turkey & Ham tasted as if it had been processed in a factory and merely... More

Phenomenal wee pub, plenty of atmosphere and character. Best pint of Guinness in the village and some lovely whiskeys. Absolute perfection on a winters afternoon with the peat fire roaring

I was in the Hillside with a few friends for a 'couple' of drinks. We were greeted by the roaring turf fires and live music from the restaurant. We had an amazing selection of drinks on offer from local real ales to mysterious looking bottles of gin. We thought it would be wise to start off with a couple of... More

I attended as part of a large group on Saturday night. Table was booked for 8pm, we had our menus at 7.45 and were seated upstairs in a tightly packed area (some had to vacate their seats and stand at the other side of the room until others came back from the toilets)......orders were taken from around 8.45pm - initially... The Hillside is a charming, rustic pub situated in the historic Georgian village of Hillsborough, County Down, only 15 minutes drive from Belfast city centre. The Hillside first opened its doors to patrons in 1752 and has been enjoying a busy trade ever since thanks to our excellent food and drinks selection and our friendly, welcoming service. We are renowned for our roaring open fires in the winter and our pretty cobble stoned beer garden in the summer.

Food served daily. Large parties catered for. Private room available.
