We had a dinner with ten friends, outside, following a wine tasting. We were all very pleased. Great food, great service. Beautiful setting... outside looking up at a Roman ruin (dreamy). GREAT meal, and we are all big time foodies - we weren't even that hungry having spent the day tasting our way through the Wachau Valley, and yet, we... More

We were wondering about the region few days back and once needing a decent place for a lunch, we happened to find Nigl. We knew of its wines, but decided to sample the restaurant as well. The staff was great and the food even better. I have just had the best asparagus in my life. Simple, with young potatoes and... More

Wonderful relaxing lunch while I was on business in Austria. I was solo but I had a book and great wine from the restaurant to keep me company.

Stopped by Nigl in the Wachau for lunch. When we stepped in, we were already impressed with the serene environment, beautiful gardens and the weather in end June was perfect for outdoors seating. Should the sun be too glaring, large patio umbrellas could be used to partially sade the table. We ordered a combination of the lunch menu and a... More

We've been to Nigl twice in the last week, on hot recommendations from friends who go there every year. Unfortunately it looks like the place is going through a rough patch. It's still very scenic and the food mostly good, but the chef and head waiter have changed recently - and it shows. Our starters on the 1st visit were... More

During our Krems/Langenlois (Wachau Valley) wine tasting visits, we went to this restaurant based on recommendation from different Winery (very nice of them to refer other winery restaurant) Lunch was absolutely delicious, Service, ambiance was just perfect. Price is not bad for that quality grub. After lunch you can go to their wine tasting one of the best Gruner Vetliner... More

We enjoyed an idyllic lunch at Restaurant Nigl. The service was exemplary, and the food was terrific, starting with the pate and cured meats that accompanied the bread service. Other highlights were the char with tomato broth and broccoli ravioli, the heart and lung with potato dumplings, the mushroom salad, the pike perch, and the schnitzel. For dessert, the sorbet... We were here with friends for lunch when we traveled through the Wachau region, we had a reservation. Our good friend recommended us this restaurant. Building is on beautiful place under Senftenberg castle. We came quite early, restaurant was empty, it didn't matter at all to us. Staff was dressed in traditional attire, as everywhere in Wachau. Restaurant is equipped... More
