Love Madeira and thoroughly recommend holidaying on the island. Excellent restaurants which offer great value for money however this is not one. Two bottles of water, one coffee and two sandwiches cost 20 euros. You will pay less than half that in Funchal.

Having visited this bar on our last visit to the island we were really disappointed this time. The waitress was unfriendly, taking great pains to ensure we knew the price of the two drinks we ordered. On arrival my wine looked like excellent value for money (maybe it is to some) but I would have preferred a smaller glass and... More

Came here for a nice cool drink after a long walk. Firstly there are no drinks menus so they can charge you what they want and as the bar is on the harbour front with good views they do. For a medium beer, 35cl, and a can of coke €5.50 is very expensive for the area, especially as there is... More

As others have commented, the menu has no prices. Camara de Lobos is not a cheap place to drink, but the bill was more than we expected. We only had drinks and a snack, and the poncha was very good, and the view across the harbour was splendid. We also had custard tarts, which had been wrapped in cling film,... More

We're invited into the bar by the usual pavement waiter but we were looking for a coffee so we sat at an outside table. Shown a list of drinks which were unpriced so we should have been wary but we ordered anyway. The brought one slice of unordered average type custard cake which again we could have refused but didn't.... More

Claire an I visited this friendly reasonably priced bar on 3 occasions. On the first we were looking for coffee and loo break. We like the friendly and helpful staff and decided to return the day for lunch. No menus, no frills just good food and friendly service. We returned two days later for a chill break after a hair... We had a lovely time here - our food was good and plentiful (one meal was forgotten and we could hear the waitress shouting at the 'chef' a young boy). Drinks were good and the waitress was very friendly and nice (dark hair and braces)- explaining how she was trying to speak in Portuguese, Spanish, French and English and that... More

Looks relaxing with a perfect location for lunch. The whole area has an air of aggressive selling. Food was OK and the beer was chilled but the service was not good. Our waitress may have been cranky due to the aggressive selling of her neighbour who exclaimed loudly "where are you going?!!!!" everytime someone went into her restaurant. Unpleasant atmosphere.... Had excellent service and our wives just loved the cocktails. Their favourite was a Nikita, my wife liked the non-alcoholic version and her sister the alcoholic one. We also tried their food and everyone thought it good, I had the Madeiran Bread (a local version of garlic bread). Would we go back again definitely, would we recommend it to a... More

Harbour setting, sun shining, relaxing - had some beers and sandwiches. We had asked for a menu , but were pointed to a picture of sandwiches ( no prices)- We should have known better. Good service from the attentive waitress does not mean you can grossly over charge !!! Be warned, ask for a price before you commit! We were... More
