About
Coco Mojo's is all about fun, great atmosphere and having a fantastic time. Located just a stone throw away from the beach opposite the tennis courts. The owner and chef has operated and cooked all around the world and has operated restaurants in Palm Cove since 1993. This is his last one " so he say's" and he wants to go back to where he started, have fun with cooking food and make people happy! The food served in Coco Mojo gets it's inspiration from street food dishes from countries located around the equator. We believe that these type of dishes are perfect for our hot tropical climate and are great to share. Coco Mojo has a funky selection cocktails based on the same philosophy and we have an outstanding wine list for very reasonable prices. On weekend days we serve breakfast. It's not your standard eggs and bacon. The dishes are inspired by travels around the world and breakfast cocktails and 10 international iced coffees are on the menu. Lunch consists of tapas style international street food dishes and share platters. We hope to see you come as a customer and leave as a friend.

I invited some wonderful friends for dinner at Coco Mojo last night and left the choice of food to Hans (chef/owner) and the choice of wines to Rebecca (the most delightful manageress). It was superb. The food was predominantly Asian with Indonesian dishes galore. There were probably more then a dozen dishes on various platters and we ate until totally satisfied and consumed the most delightful wines. But here’s the thing, we were charged peanuts compared to what was served. Sometimes it goes unnoticed that one has to pay for the incredible skills a chef possesses. It’s not just the cost of the ingredients that need to be recovered but the chef’s talents need to be honoured as well. In short, this place is too cheap for what is offered in quality food and such charming service. We wish you well and thank you for another delightful evening.

Although my partners big birthdsy bash was seriously downscaled due to COVID-19 restrictions, I still wanted to host a small special supprise gathering of local friends to mark the event. With only days out of the shindig, I approached CocoMojo in a plea of desperation after 2 other Cairns based catering companies and 1 local restaurant jerked us round making promises and then not following through. Becca and the head cheff were all too happy to immediately design a tappas style menu that was vibrant and had great variety. The menu items were desigened to suit some special dietry requirements of our guests. The meals were ready for us to pick up, beautifully plated and packaged for when we requested to pick them up and they even loaned us a warmer to use for storing and serving. The food items and salads were delicious and the price ended up being significantly less than quotes we recieved (and had accepted) from other places. I can not thank the team at CocoMojo enough for their incredible customer service and cullinary creations. Our celebration was especially magical due to their great work. We highly recomend CocoMojo.

We were staying in the area so had dinner on a Saturday night. We enjoyed the pork/barramundi dish and the Nasi campur but they were very expensive at $40 each. For that price I would have expected more meat and fish. So we would only eat here for special occasions and not often.

Tapas Brazilian Greek Moroccan Mexican etc. "Exotic culinary street food creations from all corners of the world". Busy menu and too much going on on each plate and quality suffers. Most street dishes are simple and much more tasty. Protein portions are small @ $40 & volume on plate is made up with dipping sauces salad vegetables n rice

Back in October my husband and I celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary. I had the Nasi Lemak and was very disappointed it lacked flavour and the meat was very dry. The food did not taste fresh. We went back earlier this week for a family gathering. It was a rather warm humid evening our table was outside after sitting there for about 10 mins we noticed no fans going. I asked the staff if they could please turn these on as it was very uncomfortable. They only turned on 1/2 the fans. You would have thought this was part of setting up the restaurant prior to Diners arriving. I ordered the Barramundi and prawns in coconut curry. Again extremely disappointed the food was mush. I had 1 prawn on my plate. Service was extremely slow and waited 1 hour & 20 mins for our meals. Other family members also not impressed with their meals. We have been frequent Diners at Coco Mojo, I do not think we will be returning in a hurry.

A nice evening ,with the venue ambience comforting . A table for the six of us local couple was attended too quickly and efficiently by courteous wait staff. I can’t critique other people dishes but just mine An entree of scallops and duck ,was expensive at $19;with three little scallops on a shell and some ‘ stuff’ on a plate ,( the supposed duck was no where to be seen or tasted ) I suspected this was pre prepared and then whipped through the micro wave ,presented Luke warm. When I order scollops I expect ‘ scollops ,not the supermarket variety . Main course of sea food linguini was boasted on the menu with a variety of sea food . Finally it arrived ,after all our party had theirs presented ,with a huge amount of pasta , a few strands of calamari, three prawns ,four black mussels ,which where so small that by the time I opened the shell ,the pea like flesh was almost impossible to eat ,some crustaceans, which where also tiny and once again scallops glued onto a shell. I have no problem paying the fare for the food if it’s good ,$38 but this was very poor ,not only did I expect huge big flavours ,this dish had none and was presented Luke warm. My partner also had a pasta dish and her comments where exactly the same . Coco Mojo has a problem in the kitchen and it will be a long time if ever we come back .

Returned after having a great dinner precovid ....portions smaller now and seemed very expensive. The large serve Barra and Pork was not so large and for $40..very over priced compared to other restaurants especially in nearby Palm Cove. The dips and bread were however delicious. Service needs improvement...especially at these prices.

Ordered two dishes of which one was completely not what it said it was. It was supposedly a lahmacun, which is some sort of Turkish/ Armenian pizza. Normally this dish would be a thin, doughy roll with a very thin layer of spicy tomato-onion- mince paste. It can be served with zaziki and salad, but even without that it ain’t supposed to be a thick bread with an even more ridiculous mountain of mince and a garlic Mayo, as was served. It was way too rich, not refined. Not very fresh tasting and really nothing I would recommend ordering, even if you have no expectations on a lahmacun. As with my previous experience, waiters are rare so a return of this dish was no option - but seriously should have been. The other dish was excellent. So was the mango daiquiri.

We were excited by the very interesting and varied menu. Unfortunately our eating experience fell a bit short of expectations. We shared three of the 'quick bites' as an entree. They were well cooked and presented, but we found 2 rather bland in flavour and the other a mismatch of sweet and salty.. Our tostada main was a generous size, but the flat pita bread it sat on had a burnt taste. The shredded chicken filling was OK but the mayonnaise/chipotle sauce was not a combination I enjoyed. Service is friendly and attentive, but it did take long time (45 minutes) for the food to start arriving. Overall, we did not enjoy the food we ate well enough to warrant a return visit to sample other items on the extensive menu.

We used to eat at Coco Mojo once or twice a week; the vibrant menu was superb a couple of years ago. However, recently this place has changed beyond recognition. The once-awesome quality of the meals has been drastically reduced and the prices have risen to a point that makes it unaffordable to anyone except cashed-up tourists Our last 3 meals have been so disappointing. We try to support local, so we returned on Saturday evening to give them one last chance to serve up a good meal like the old days! After ordering from an even more slimmed down menu, we were advised rather flippantly that since there was only one chef, two wait staff and a table of six before us, we should order some bread as the wait time could be pretty long, probably 45 minutes. We left disappointed and won’t be returning. RIP Cocos. Sadly missed.

We are locals and we found what was once a favorite restaurant has gone downhill. The menu has been downsized due to lack of staff so half the items on yesterday's lunch menu weren't available. We were not advised about this when booking only after we sat down at our table! Poor form. The Vietnamese Crepe is half or 3rd the size of what it used to be and for $27 is seriously overpriced. The Beef Satay skewers while delicious again very small. I hope management takes this onboard as once loyal customers will be dining out elsewhere. I'll be checking out the reviews before I even think about booking next time.

Visited Coco Mojo for the first time on Thursday 24/06/21 for a late lunch. Ordered from the menu choice _ Barra & Belly + Eye Fillet + two drinks one Pineapple Juice & one Cappuccino. Food was well cooked & excellent presentation. Meals served around 20-25 mins after ordering. A quiet time of the day with very few diners & a relaxing place to eat without feeling rushed. Total cost for meals & drinks AUD $94.00 & we will defiantly return.

Only one person serving, neither my food or cocktail choices available from the menu. My replacements were terrible, a rubber Japanese pancake and a rubarb fizz cocktail consisting of a poor quality sparkling with particles of rubarb puree on top which did not mix in or impart any flavour. Disappointing since re-opening to regular locals

My Husband and I were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary. We had been to Coco Mojo several times and loved it but this was our first visit in over a year. The food was well below our expectations - flavourless Barramundi and my Nasi Lemak was below average - overcooked and dry. To make matters worse the service was appalling. Our waitress was friendly, but scarce. We waited twenty minutes for our second round of drinks. We wanted another drink ... rather than wait we paid our bill and went home. We were enjoying our drinks within ten minutes instead of twenty!

We were looking forward to dinner here. It looks terrific, the menu and drinks list reads well. Unfortunately it was underwhelming. We waited 30 minutes to get drinks, after asking to be moved from an isolated table under a very noisy fan. The guy who brought our drinks was pretty stroppy for some reason. We waited another 30 minutes for our mains, three out of the four weren’t what we ordered. When we brought that to the attention of the staff, they apologised but made no effort to do anything about it. On the plus side, my wife’s seafood pasta was really good. When I went to the bar to ask for cracked pepper, (no-one had been near us since delivering the wrong meals), I was given four paper envelopes of pepper, (a la McDonalds), one of which was already opened. After finishing our meals, no-one came near us again. The table wasn’t cleared, we weren’t given desert menus, no-one asked if we wanted coffee or after dinner drinks. Given that they’re the only game in town, I guess they don’t really care too much.
