I am struggling to relate to the negative comments that have been left. I often come here with my partner as we are local and believe this to be the best pub in the village. The owners and staff are always welcoming and attentive and nothing is too much for them. We recently came here to have dinner and ordered from the Turkish menu of which we both said it was some of the best food we have ever eaten. We love the laid back atmosphere and the fact that it’s not ponsey like many other pubs in Cambridge. We have booked to come back for dinner this week and are looking forward to more delicious food. You can’t please everyone!

We decided to return to the White Hart after new management took over for a 90th birthday treat. We had Sunday lunch and the food was excellent, with more on the plate than I could eat. Generally the service could be improved but waitresses were very friendly and welcoming. However they did sing happy birthday and gave us a complementary dessert when the waitress discovered that we had a birthday girl with us. It made her very pleased.

Christmas Day is always a time for family, festivities, and of course, delicious food. This year, we decided to try something new and headed to the white hart under its exciting new management. We were pleasantly surprised, to say the least! From the moment we stepped in, the warm atmosphere and friendly welcome set the tone for an exceptional evening. The staff, under the guidance of the new management, were attentive and knowledgeable, offering recommendations and ensuring our glasses were never empty. The festive decorations added a touch of magic to the already charming setting. But the real star of the show was the food. The fresh local ingredients, cooked to perfection, were truly memorable. It's clear that the new management is passionate about creating memorable dining experiences. They've breathed fresh life into the establishment, with a focus on quality ingredients, skillful preparation, and attentive service. Overall, our Christmas Day lunch was a resounding success. We left feeling happy, satisfied, and already looking forward to returning. If you're looking for a restaurant that goes the extra mile to make your holiday season special, look no further than the white hart Under its new management, it's a true Christmas cracke.

I didn’t want write my review! I felt bad! But reading other comments i agreed what customers said!! why I didn’t read the reviews before to visit this place!! I don't know where to begin to say it was a disaster! but the most unpleasant thing was being served by the owner with a long beard and with all the dandruff residue from his beard on his black t-shirt! the thing that ruined my appetite was seeing the owner's finger yellow from the nicotine from the cigarettes he served us and he went out to smoke continuously and then came back to serve us! the Sunday menu is truly poor! they served me a pepper soup which was full of skin the soup was not filtered and it was not served with bread I asked the waitress but without bread? in the end they served me the soup with a yorkshire pudding! the wine is the same one you find in Tesco for the price of 6 pounds and I paid almost 30 pounds! the cakes are not made by them, they were certainly bought from booker, long-life synthetic flavour! this pub won't stay open for long unfortunately there is a lot of competition in the restaurant world and especially if you are new management you have to be much better than your previous management and better than the competition!

Hi Same here I tend to not respond the reviews but couldn’t help myself after reading your spineless feedback I fully acknowledge that my brother (part owner) was not up to standard with his appearance, he was meant to be off and got called in last minute Soup you were served was roast pepper and tomato soup topped with raquto pepperdew peppers, not skin!! We had fig loaf and ciabatta in stock but served it with crispy Yorkshire as it was Sunday Poor menu??? Tomahawk for £36 to share? Smoked oyster mushrooms? Brownie with smoked sea salt? We buy our wines from Cambridge Wine Merchants and I am truly proud to say that we have the best spirit, whisky, wine and lager collection in Cambridge! As for dessert we tend to offer 2 homemade desserts and 1 ready made, some of our guests consume £750 worth bottle of whiskies so we don’t serve cheap Booker desserts to go with it…. I also proudly post videos of our desserts to shout it is homemade Restaurants and Pub do shut because of bad managements and ALSO because of spineless keyboard warriors who doesn’t have the spine to speak to waiters and give owners a chance to rectify the issues. Because of my brother’s appearance I would happily offer free meal as a good will gesture but I am very happy that you won’t be coming back!…. All the best

A real mixture of experiences. Spent 5 nights to visit Cambridge and Duxford for our Wedding Anniversary. Staff were friendly. Had 2 Meals in the restaurant which were good and the bar and restaurant was attractive. Parking Free B&B. Breakfast was only cooked which is something we rarely have and didn’t really want 5 days running. No cereals, yoghurt or fruit option which would have been cheaper to supply. Accommodations. We had the large double, bedroom I would say was small but the bathroom large with a large shower area. Both rooms had a lot of dust over the furniture and skirting board, needed some TLC. The radiator in the bathroom couldn’t be put on hence the towels stayed damp and cold. The weather did turn cold and we asked the lady at the bar if the heating could put on and she said she would get someone to look at it but nothing happened. We found a small fan heater which wasn’t sufficient and ended up wearing tee shirts in bed and piled our coats on top. Shivered in the bathroom. There was an outside metal staircase up to the accommodation which needed the light at the top to work at night especially in the rain Not the best Anniversary we have had. It’s a shame because with more care this could have been a really nice venue and cost of the improvements would be minimal

So disappointing. Visited on Friday evening with family to celebrate my elderly Mums Birthday, service was poor and incredibly slow the food didn't justify the time it took to get to us. To cap off the evening we were denied deserts because the Chef (if they actualy have one ) finished at 8.30. Having visited the White Hart successfully several times in the past we won't be back sadly.

Hi David We are sorry that the food was late and it wasn’t up your expectations. Although I wanted let you know that I was the chef in charge that evening and rest assured if you google my name you can see 24 years of history and articles about my career. If you had let us know that it was a birthday celebration then I would’ve kept the kitchen open, as it was a particularly hot day I tried to minimise the heat exposure in kitchen and to be honest we weren’t expecting a dessert order at 21:45 I pay my staff very well and under no circumstances I reflect that as “service charge” to my guests, even to table of 10 like yours, they don’t depend on tips either as you made it clear to my staff several times that you won’t be tipping them, I believe they’ve done their best to serve your table and the kitchen team have let you down Again, we are sorry that food was late and not up to your expectations but I am very glad that we won’t be seeing you ever again Regards

Just visited for a Sunday roast for my father in laws birthday. Chose this pub as we used to come here years ago and we always really enjoyed the atmosphere and food was always excellent. Pub itself is still lovely and atmosphere and decor is really nice, waitress was very pleasant and took our order quickly. We ordered two roast pork and a roast beef. At ÂŁ15.95 and ÂŁ16.95 respectively it is quite pricey but probably on par with todays prices. We had a side of cauliflower cheese at ÂŁ4. Meals came out quickly and the pork dinners were pork medallions so not from a pork roast, beef was pale, chewy and looked like it came from a packet, roast potatoes were not roasted, Yorkshire pudding was oily and soggy, veg was carrots, cabbage and courgette which looked pre packed. Cauliflower cheese went back as was cold came back out after being microwaved but still not edible. This was probably our worst roast dinner in a pub and will not be returning. Refused to pay for cauliflower cheese and we were very unhappy to pay in full for something only worth half the price, but we did. Obviously this is just our opinion but they seriously need to get fresh meat joints and fresh vegetables.

I will never eat at the White Hart again and I will not be recommending it to anybody I know. Here's why. In summary, poor food, poor service, and a 10% non-discretionary service charge. Last August, we had a fantastic meal at this pub. Prior to that my wife had eaten there a couple of weeks before and came home raving about the food so I booked a table to celebrate my mother's birthday there in August. I enjoyed the food so much (we all did) that I booked it for Valentines day this year. What a disappointment! The food was average to poor. Nothing like the times before. My wife took one look at her burger and knew that it was not the same quality as last year and she did not enjoy eating it. Even the chips and overall presentation were different. My chicken meal was no better! Definitely not to the standard we were expecting yet the same expensive price! In addition to this, I was charged a 10% 'discretionary' service charge that I knew nothing about. I was told how much I owed when I went to pay but not about the service charge and there were no warnings on the menu or in the pub to alert me to this. After paying I was asked if I wanted a receipt which luckily I took. So it was not until later that I realised that I had been charged this! My own fault for not checking beforehand but we were in a hurry to leave due to other pressing issues. Finally, the service was poor. Somebody removed too much cutlery from the table whilst we were seated. We didn't realise and neither did both people who came to either take our order or to talk to us. As it was never replaced I took a knife, fork and napkin from an adjacent table. I could have asked for one but to me it was a minor thing... however, in the light of the other two gripes I'm including it here.

I agreed with the previous reviews, having been to the White Hart Fulbourn restaurant several times in the past. Booked for today April 13 2024 and only when we arrived was a 'new' menu thrust at us, saying "We're Turkish food now". It was so ghastly we called for the bill, paid, left our food and went elsewhere to have a decent lunch. What more can I say.

Firstly we have been before and it was nice although this was the first time going for a roast dinner. It was busy but sadly the staff made this feel worse by the waitress’s seeming stressed and the manager yelling commands like a military operation. I’m sure it was stressful if you’re not used to being so busy but learning not to share this with customers is important. We ordered three roasts and a child’s pasta. The roasts were very poor quality, ready made yorkshires, for two women and a child the roasts were very small. Two slices of beef, most of which was extremely fatty. A pile of chunks of courgette. Watery, tasteless gravy, two very poor potatoes. Extremely over priced for the quality and quantity. Sadly they lost customers today and I would definitely not recommend.

We booked to stay at the White Hart because accommodation in the heart of Cambridge is so expensive and often does not include parking, making the cost even more prohibitive. The room could do with a little TLC and everything was on the small side (room, bed, shower) but it was clean and for the price we couldn't argue. And we were able to park here for free, unlike hotels in the heart of Cambridge. The food however was top notch. We ate here on our first night and I can recommend the crispy duck salad. Breakfast was also very good, the full English was very yummy and somewhat made up for the room. Fulbourn village is on a direct bus route into the city. Its a 10 minute walk to the bus stop for Route 1 and ÂŁ4.50 for an all day travel ticket, which allows you to ride any Stagecoach bus in Cambridge. The bus takes about an hour to get into the heart of Cambridge, and runs until reasonably late should you be eating out in Cambridge.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We understand that our accommodations may not be the most luxurious, but we strive to offer affordable options with added conveniences like free parking. We're glad to hear that the room was clean, and while it may have been on the small side, we appreciate your understanding given the price. It's fantastic to know that you enjoyed the food during your stay, particularly the crispy duck salad and the full English breakfast. We take pride in serving delicious meals to our guests. We're also pleased to hear that Fulbourn village offers convenient transportation options, allowing you to easily access Cambridge via the direct bus route. The availability of late-night buses is an added bonus for those enjoying evenings out in the city. Thank you for choosing to stay with us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

Have been several times for Sunday lunch with family group which has always been very good , have also been with friends as well . The pub has a lovely interior , not too noisy or overcrowded. The service has always been first class, and friendly. Prices for food and drink are very reasonable, yes there is a service charge but this is less than I would usually tip. The food has on all occasions been excellent , I recently discovered the crispy squid with chips and pita bread which is my favourite dishes, one of the best meals I think I've ever had , sometimes when you find a meal that's great , the second time you have it it's sometimes not quite as good , this is not the case here , it's always fab

Sunday lunch under new management Starter: home made hummus and flatbread, very plentiful and tasty Mains: I had lamb chops- very delicious, best meal we had in Fulbourn village for the past 20 years. Service: this area needs improving. No one is very good at hosting customers. Need to be more friendly and cheerful. Hopefully over time they can improve on this. Overall- clearly the chef knows what his doing , but front house need more professional training.

Not great. Went there for a Sunday lunch today. Menu defo not the same as advertised on web site with only 4 choices for Sunday lunch. The veggie one was oyster mushrooms Sunday roast. Unusual combo and mushrooms were not good. To be fair my parents said the beef and ham were good. Also veg came in one small pot for the 4 of us. When I asked the waitress if that was it she said “if you want more just ask” to which I did at that point and we got another small pot. Young waitress friendly older one not so much. I would have complained but with elderly parents and did not want to spoil their day out. Real shame as we had all looked at menu before and were keen to go.

Hi Many thanks for your feedback I am very sorry that we haven’t been able provide you with the correct menu, as we recently took on the pub we only managed to update menus and that has been a challenge as I don’t speak website editing jargon nor capable of editing, we have approached a marketing company to resolve this last week I am glad that your parents were happy with their food and very sorry that oyster mushrooms wasn’t up to your expectations. I have immediately removed the “quorn roast” from the menus as it has 7 different chemicals and it is cooked in chemically bonded special “roasting” bag We smoke our meat and we smoke our vegetable, such as heritage carrots and chicory to enhance flavours of the roasts we offer, oyster mushrooms are locally grown by a couple who plays music to the mushrooms for healthy maximum growth As for my senior server, I will have a chat and make sure this doesn’t happen again We do check with our guest several times and encourage them to raise with us if there is any issues, I am well known in Fulbourn and Cambridge to resolve issues generously. I fully appreciate that you didn’t want to disturb your family’s meal but I wished that we could’ve sorted this matter with a phone call or an email Best wishes

Awful food and not what was on the menu. I ordered beet humours with salad and vegetable crisps. The humanoid was definitely not best and when I questioned the waitress her response was no it’s not best and walked off! The salad was served in a small soufflé pot, was awful too.£10.50 for hummus and pitta bread! My partner had a burger which was clearly not homemade. We weren’t asked if the food was ok.. I would not recommend this pub for lunch or go back! The table was dirty and sticky and the whole place looked in need of care.
