We had a spectacular dinner at this lovely restaurant on the Douro River. We did not order the tasting menu but enjoyed our main course, dessert and wine tremendously.

The food and wine are exceptional. As is the interior space. With beautiful views of the river, you can even sit outdoors and enjoy the spectacular Douro even more.

I read about this restaurant in a travel blog, and it was one of the best meals I've had. The location is simply perfect; our table was located in a deck over the Douro River. Fantastic food, great wine list, excellent service. Make sure you order the tasting menu (there are 2 options) with wine pairing. Great place to go... More

If you are in the Douro and staying at Six Senses or Vintage House, then this is de rigueur restaurant stop for you. We spent 4 or 5 hours at lunch, and now have the Michelin restaurant story to lord over our friends. And, it was a saints day, so the town across the river kept launching afternoon fireworks for... We had a great quick lunch here on our way to Pinhao. Very friendly staff and great service. Many interesting options to choose from… All of them great. We didn't have time for either of the degustation menus and had to order ala carte but all of the dishes were excellent.

This is my second dinner experience at the DOC, for dinner, and I can confirm this is a must restaurant when you visit the Douro Valley. You can choose between a degustation menu or a la carte. We went for the a la carte choice. There are a good choice of different dishes, most of them based on traditional Portuguese... More

Really nice position on the Douro, peaceful and beautiful. However, I can't recommend DOC because of the service. Arrogant, non-attentive. Without asking,a waiter removed a sun umbrella from our table to give to another. Staff seemed to concentrate on one particular party of 2, otherwise just standing around talking to each other. Language was not a barrier, but attitude was.... More

After a drizzly, very damp hour's rabelo boat ride from Pinhao where our hotel was located, to this restaurant on the shore of the Douro River, we disembarked and scurried through the rain to the DOC restaurant for a lovely tasting menu accompanied by Quinta Vale Da. Maria wines. The service was exemplary and the meal excellent, better than one... More

We came here for lunch after hearing so much about this place. We were quite disappointed. The food is average. Very bland, nothing creative. The location is wonderful and we enjoyed sitting by the water. The service was flawless, can't fault them. I wouldn't recommend coming here though. You won't be missing out.

I couldn't have asked for a better lunch site to soak up the beauty of Portugal's Duoro Valley. It was a perfect stop on a wine tasting visit. Had a delicious lunch and desert topped off with a glass of tawny port.

Description
Douro is river, villages and suspended vineyards on imposing slopes. It's wine with designation of origin but also D.O.C, Taste of Certified Origins.

It was based on this analogy that, in 2007, the DOC restaurant was born. Situated in Folgosa, Armamar, on the road between Regua and Pinhao, in what is one of the most beautiful scenic routes in the country, the restaurant occupies a building of contemporary lines with a picket based that extends along an elegant wooden deck overlooking the river.

Designed by the architect Michael Scott, the structure also includes a river dock with capacity for 15 boats, a wine cellar and a car park.
It's a place of enormous beauty, blending the grandeur of the vineyard covered mountains and the serenity of the Douro river and the riverside villages, only awakened by the regular passage of the train. DOC serves as a window on this breathtaking scenery, making every meal a unique and special moment.

Since it opened, the restaurant has been the target of a growing recognition of press and public. David Lopes Ramos, the 'Publico' renowned food critic, thus referring to DOC, in an article published in the 'Fugas' supplement: "DOC is a unique case, because, alone, made the Douro kitchen Douro sophisticated and creative in a level previously unknown. This in Douro, our most prestigious wine region. "
