Came here to grab some take

Came here to grab some take away brunch and we weren’t disappointed. There wasn’t any ready made vegetarian sandwiches and they were very happy to make them for us. We also had coffee to go as well. Good service. Thanks guys!

Great food, great vibe

We visited Crumb twice this trip. Firstly for a light breakfast. The coffee was excellent and breakfast options ranged from fairly light bacon and egg rolls to filling dishes featuring a mix of fresh ingredients. The good food/coffee, friendly staff, quick service and a sneak peek at the lunch menu saw us back the next day for brunch. We ordered "burgers"which really doesn't do justice to these "stacks". The meal size, if all the chips were eaten, would stop a truckie/ tradie but we've rarely enjoyed the quality and mix of fresh ingredients including mushrooms (flat and enoki) ,eggs and avocados as standouts. Again, the service was quick, the staff buzzed about engaging both customers and themselves in a fun way and the coffee hit the mark too. The Cafe is expanding and it's easy to see why. Highly recommended.

Attractive Breakfast

My wife and I had a good breakfast here while visiting Batemans Bay for a long weekend. My wife had smashed avocado on toast which came out looking very fancy with finely placed dhukkah, radish and edible flowers scattered around. My relatively plain eggs of toast with chorizo was also well plated. Fine coffee too. Limited seating here.

Terrible service

My husband and I were having a (rare) special weekend away. Unfortunately we are unable to comment on the food. The coffees arrived promptly. We were told there would be a 20 minute wait for food. After 40 minutes we enquired about where the food was. They had lost our order. We waited a further 20 minutes and still no food. In the meantime other customers, who arrived after our complaint, were served. We enquired again, 60 minutes after our initial order and were told that they hadn’t commenced cooking our food. We had to leave to check out of our accommodation. They refunded our food but declined to refund the coffee. Clearly no pride in customer satisfaction and absolutely no sense of remorse over the appalling service. Very disappointing.

Food and coffee hit the mark

We stopped in for lunch on our way south and then for breakfast on our way home the next day. Coffee at lunch was excellent, but was a little bitter at breakfast. Food was good on both occasions, with the egg and bacon sesame roll particularly tasty. Service was good and the cafe had a quite a buzz at breakfast time with tables inside and out full.

Delicious Breakfast

I’ve been in this cafe after a cold walk in winter. It was open very early, quick service and delicious food Very well presented on the plate. Good coffe to warm me up! Lovely people as well! I came back the day after for another breakfast

Great place for yummy gluten free food

Highly recommend this cafe for brekkie and lunch if you are coeliac and/or other food allergies. Amazing menu filled with yummy food. Nothing too much trouble. Definitely a cafe to keep going back to.

Poor customer service

My partner and I waited 25 minutes for 2 takeaway coffees (which amounted to $15.50 for a jumbo and a large coffee). If the cafe was busy, we would’ve understood, but this was not the case. Staff were busy chatting with each other and not overly eager to serve customers with any sense of urgency. The business also has a complete disregard for Covid restrictions. Not one staff member was wearing a face mask, as required under NSW requirements. Staff also couldn’t care less about customers checking in. The coffee is quite good but this generally a negative experience. Disappointing as we have been coming here for a couple of years when down at the Bay.

Can’t even poach an egg…

The positive reviews of Crumb certainly don’t reflect my experience. The cafe was busy but not ridiculously busy (there were empty tables and available seats) so 40 minutes to serve poached eggs on toast is excessive. I was worried when the person who took my order was confused and asked if I wanted my poached eggs on toast (despite this being how this order is described on the menu) and disappointed when I had to follow up on my order after 30 minutes and it took 40 minutes to be served. Then my eggs arrived hard boiled. A chef who can’t get eggs right should be washing dishes. I was going to eat them as I didn’t have time to re-order only to find a hair on my plate! The young waiter was apologetic and offered to have the eggs remade but I didn’t have time. No senior person, the owner, manager or anyone else came near me. At the very least I should have been offered a takeaway coffee. Good management would have offered a full refund especially considering the 15% Sunday surcharge. I won’t recommend this place and suggest looking for an alternative, it’s a dud that wouldn’t survive in a more competitive area. In closing I observed two orders delivered to wrong tables. Someone who has English as a second language taking orders and 14 year old wait staff will do that.

Awesome food, great staff

Wow! Crumb cafe at Batehaven excelled again! Roast pumpkin, bacon, poached eggs, baby spinach, fried tomato, feta, pickled onions etc. What a gourmet delight! All enjoyed outdoors in a very pleasant 16 or 17° fine morning. Great staff with a sense of humour just top it off! Fantastic! 5 stars and highly recommended. I'll be back when I'm next in the area!

Fantastic Brunch menu

Had a lovely lunch with the family; cozy but comfortable with delicious food. The coffee was reviving; the eggs cooked perfectly. Very enjoyable. Only surprise was the burgers were described as coming with chips - this meant ‘crisps’ (as in ‘Smiths Chips’ from a packet) not hot chips. Kids didn’t enjoy the wrap as the Schnitzel was not quite defrosted inside the wrap.

What a way to start your day!

It was easy enough to get a table for three in this busy little place. It seemed very popular with lots of people stopping on the road to jump out of their cars to order coffees. Our table ordered 'eggs your way' and 'eggs benedict', all coming out in great time and was very yummy. I am dairy, gluten, nut and fructose intolerant and was able to easily modify my meal to suit what I can tolerate. The staff were super helpful with this as well no judgement was felt. A beautiful little atmosphere. Thank you Crumb.

Amazing food but poor customer service

We love crumb , and go there regularly as a family. However on the weekend when ordering our normal meals we were told by the coffee maker and lady “we don’t do those”(which we have had these meals there before and we were then told “grab a menu and read it”. We stay as we knew the meals are amazing . But unfortunately they have now lost customers due to the rudeness behind the front counter.

Awful Food

My Haloumi burger came out with smiths crinckle cut chips instead of fresh chips. The burger was overly busy with too many competing flavours and textures. My partners fritters was awful, it was somehow too rubbery, floury and cold all at the same time. The avocado was too lemony and again the flavours were too busy. The coffee was fine, but didn’t make up for the awful food.

The breakfast was delicious.

The breakfast was delicious. The menu offered a variety of breakfast options that were not the standard bacon & eggs. The brekky burger was delicious and the waffles were unique and a delicious option for kids. The cafe had a variety of milk including ‘The Milk Lab’ brand. There was a variety of cakes, muffins, croissants, bagels - sweet & savoury options in their display cabinet. The staff were friendly. The restaurant accepted both cash and card. Definitely a hidden gem and a must to visit for tasty coffee & food!
