Terrible experience. Especially if you are a foreign tourist. My emails to the hotel were completely ignored in the run up to arriving at the hotel, so arranging the arrival was tricky. Upon arrival, we were hurridly taken to the restaurant to eat straight away....After eating some extremely bland food we finally got to the room. We then tried to book a spa treatment and were told we are too late; 30 mins after final booking time. We had no explanation of this on arrival and no chance to review any policies in the room to find this out. In the morning, we had to schedule a slot for breakfast (even though it's a buffet with more than enough tables). When we woke early and requested to move the timeslot, request was denied. The final irritation was upon checking out and requesting the shuttle to the station (as communicated would be available to us), we were told the final shuttle left at 11 and we would have to get a taxi. Reception staff were rude and every request seemed to be met with attitude and hostility. Even simple things like organizing a taxi. For the price I paid for this room, the service was an absolute joke. Avoid like the plague.More

Staying in Terrace room, there is an outdoor hot spring with lake view, clean room, like the lighting in the room at night. Overall, the atmosphere is peaceful, relaxing, beautiful view, good service and good food

I feel so frustrated about they declined my request for 1 hour late check out, how can a family with kids can finish the breakfast and manage to check out before 10? They didn't exercise any flexibility and this service standard was totally unacceptable while...they keep telling this is company policy. I will never come again or even recommend my friends. This is the only onsen hotel in Japan reject my late check-out for just 1 hr not even mention its check out time is unreasonable 10am. The main course of the dinner was terrible too. The room was overall clean, but there was an used cigarette near the private onsen. Although the room has a good view of Fuji Moutain, we paid 154000 yen for 2 nights and it is absolutely not worth the money. Many better choices in Japan. Strongly recommend to skip this one.More

If you are looking for a place just for 1 or 2 nights to assist to marathon is convenient but the hotel is really old and bad connection - the hotel shuttle is poor and staff does not speak any words english - we have...package with dinner and really poor quality... inside the room quite cold temperature and tv with only japanese channels - next year definitely we will find a new option 😞More

The evening meals at Kukuna were a highlight of the experience. Eating such delicious food in the shadow of Fujisan was so special. It might seem odd, but there is a set "course" meal served in quick succession - we found it best to enjoy...this first and then have a selection from the buffet. The quality of the food was excellent. There were two buffets - Japanese and Western. We didn't touch the Western food but the Japanese selection was amazing. On the first night we chose the sommelier paired Japanese wines, which were excellent. On the second night we chose to sample some sakes along with our food. Drinks prices are very fair, especially for the calibre of hotel.More

Staying in Kukuna was one of the highlights of our entire holiday in Japan. We stayed in the water terrace suite in the 7th floor with a view of Mt Fuji and it was well worth the investment! Waking up the following morning, to see...Mt Fuji from the room was a special moment for us. We did not expect such a marvellous close up view of Mt Fuji from the room, you feel that the mountain is so close to you. We loved the open air bath and used it several times while looking out at the mountain from our room. Breakfast and dinner plans were top notch! There’s western and japanese choices. Dinner we were so amazed to be offered a 5 course degustation on top of the buffet as part of our plan! Worth every penny! Japanese hospitality and service is next level! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻More

We stayed at this hotel and ate at the restaurant, it was great and we enjoyed it immensly. Our room with a private Onsen had the most amazing views of Mt Fuji. We wished we could have spent more time there. The food was tasty...and well presented. The staff were the best and we'd highly recommend this place to anyone.More

We stayed at the Kukuna for 2 nights and decided to treat ourselves to the teppanyaki meal after having read the rave reviews and seen the youtube postings of a meal made special by master teppanyaki chefs. We decided to splurge on this as a...treat. Surcharge of 4,300 yen per person on top of the dinner package. We arrived punctually and were seated at a long teppanyaki table. There were 2 sets of patrons served by 2 different chefs. One group of six with an obviously highly skilled and animated master teppanyaki chef. We were in a group of five, served by a very young and tentative "chef". As in any teppanyaki meal, the flair and artistry of chef was as important as the food itself. After our "chef" made her intro in Japanese, we politely told her that we did not understand Japanese and could she speak to us in English? We were totally unprepared for what happened next. Without a word, she just turned her back on us and proceeded to ignore us for the next half hour. We were flabbergasted and absolutely shocked! Even in the most humble of eateries in Japan, we have been met with a smile, an apology for not speaking English or speaking it badly. But to be treated so shabbily in a highly prized restaurant in a 5 star hotel in Japan was and is unthinkable!! What made it worse was that our "chef" carried on an animated commentary with the other 3 Japanese guests under her care while we sat like invisible intruders. While we ate silently, the far side of the table was being regaled heartily by their master chef and his artistry and ease in cooking was a stark contrast to our "chef" who cooked without any flair whatsoever, proceeded to overcook the fresh scallops and "murder" the fresh asparagus. After the 2nd course, we decided to avert our gaze from what we were so obviously robbed of - the playful and masterful cooking happening just down the table. Our "chef" finally deigned to speak 3 words to us when she introduced the the 3 different condiments placed in front of us. Needless to say, it was the biggest letdown we have ever experienced in all our years of travel in Japan. Kukuna would do well to do 2 things for their supposedly highly acclaimed teppanyaki - firstly, pair a chef who can at least attempt to communicate with foreign guests. secondly, ensure that the chefs serving together at the same table are of the same calibre. This way none of the guests would feel shortchanged. This meal was an absolute disappointment in an otherwise perfect holidayMore

Stayed in a room with personal jacuzzis and baths. Unfortunately the bath is outside on the balcony, which makes each bath a very quick one during the month of April because it was cold outside. But enjoyed the jacuzzi and the spring baths on offer...at the resort. They also provide free snacks and drinks all day. The food was fantastic, both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast offered so many variety of choices while the quality of food in dinner time was awesome! We even got a private room for dinner. The staffs were very helpful and spoke well English. The resort is located on the north shore of the lake, which makes the view of the lake along with Fujisan in the same direction and the resort has direct access to the walk by the lake. Highly recommended for people to stay.More
