My friends and I were at Kawaguchiko from 7-9 Jul 2016 but this shop was not open at all. There was no signage or anything to suggest why it wasnt open. Nothing on their website as well. We even went to their next nearest branch which was 10mins away by bike but still not open. Will be nice if a... More

Very lovely restaurant with traditional style seating including tatami mats. Lose the shoes when you enter and enjoy the atmosphere! Food is very good, local style noodles in an amazing broth with different options for meat, fish or veggies. Includes lots of pumpkin pieces, dumplings, noodles and ofc the broth itself is quite delicious as well. Servings are pretty big,... More

"Houtou" is Japanese style chicken dumpling with miso soup without chicken. Yes it has lots of vegetables and pumpkin.

This was the first japanese styled/ ambiance restaurant that I visited in Japan. My family loved the food. especially the Japanese style seating. My kids also loved the various sweets that they had kept at the billing counter. We order two dishes which were filling for four people.

As much as I enjoy a huge cauldron of hot hot noodles, I enjoy meat more, and wish that this dish had a more...carnivorous option :P otherwise, tasty

Not the best noodle soup I had, but a great experience. Especially if you go eat a bowl with a Japanese friend. Thick soup with handmade noodles that will definitely fill your stomach full.

The hot noodle come in a bowl with diameter only an inch less than a chopstick's length. Since it's too hot, we need to 'hang' the noodle several seconds before we put it to our mouth. Don't be too busy to cool it down, because the remaining noodle will absorb the soup and become almost twice thicker.

The surroundings are very traditional, but the menu is very limited - The main dish in its various forms is very good - and large too. Impressive wood hall with ancient design pictures.

This restaurant is hard to miss ... the owner has a whistle and a pair of roller blades and his frantic attempts to guide you into his car park as you round the corner make you want to stop to see what's going on even if you aren't hungry !! The signature dish - Hoto -is a local specialty -... More
