Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

New menu launched today, wow amazing, Italian inspired but still has some of old basics, we had the salt & pepper calamari, lightly fried in light batter and tender, best ive had in a long time and perfect size, also had the wagu steak butchers...cut, perfectly cooked. Welcoming and friendly and great atmosphere, my family been coming for 60 years and although now more upmarket, well worth a visit and we will be back.More

Newly renovated, brings a whole new feel and look to the place now. Cleanliness has improved and especially the food. Went on a Saturday night for dinner and drinks and the live entertainment they had made such a difference to the venue - awesome Soul/RnB...singer and guitarist!More

Moved from Newcastle. My first time with family of an evening was great. Second time during the day, very disappointing. Was a Monday, food supplies hadn't arrived. Had the fish and chips. Very ordinary and overpriced sat in the outdoor area. To be honest the...place and seat cushions need a good scrub. Rooms need more attention to detail to make them more inviting. Pity really. I was looking forward to making it my local.More

They've kept some of the old design, especially at the side, then a pleasant area at the front, nice staff and reasonable prices for a reasonable beer range.

2021.11.07 Kept standing in the rain at the rear entrance, waiting try and scan the QID code, then the guard meticulously checking vaccination status certificates, not accepting snapshots on cell phone, insisting on seeing actual printout. Mine was all in order, my wife has a...certificate of contra-indication, which the guard would not accept even though the NSW health website lists the same as valid evidence of covid-19 vaccination. If your GP writes a letter of contra-indication, he/she writes the same for a valid medical reason. Your respectfully, Former patron of the Crossways HotelMore

Do yourself a favour and sit in the chilled aircon and chow down on a yummy panko schnitty! PS. The CC & Dry pairs very well with the free nuts!

I used to live just across the road from this renovated pub. My partner and I always loved the food. Either a steak with a peppercorn sauce with steamed veggies and mash potato or a massive burger. The staff was always helpful when we had...questions about the menu or the wine. I recommend this place especially in winter when you can seat around that fire place.More

Went to this pub for a meal and a couple of drinks on Saturday night. Multiple issues with the food order. - Asked for a medium steak, received what I would call a rare steak - Ordered chips and greens (veg) received greens and salad...- Complained about the lack of chips, was told they'd be made in 2 mins, never received them, saw another patron take what may have been the chips. - Beer glasses were undersized from traditional "schooner" glasses. Whilst the live act was talented and the only redeeming feature of the night, her placement next to the bar made it near impossible to order food or drinks without issues and the need to repeat orders. At BEST this was a noise issue, at worst it shows a complete ineptness on behalf of the employed staff be it bar, food ordering or kitchen/chefs regardless there were far too many problems for me to ever bother returning to this establishment. If I could have given this a zero rating or even a negative one I would have gladly.More

An unremarkable but decent enough corner hotel. The atmosphere is nicer than others of its kind as the inside is nicely lit and modern. The staff are knowledgeable and there's a solid selection of beers on tap. Food is a bit lacklustre, very standard pub...food with little to stand out. Coffee is nice though! Recommend as a place to have drinks with friends, or sports betting if that's your thing. There's also a good play area for the kids to keep them out of trouble.More

Went here with friends for lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Pub food is sometimes hit and miss and they sure don't miss your hip pocket, but this place was very good. Reasonably priced in any case in a small...but roomy type of set up. Drink prices were average but I would imagine they would be up there on weekends. They certainly have done this pub up from many years ago - if you're in the area, its worth a try..More

The food was great, huge servings. My family had the nacho burger which they loved and looked amazing. We came on a Wednesday, so got a steak deal, beer + steak for $20, since I don't drink beer they were happy to substitute with a...soft drink, and the steak was the biggest one I've ever seen, and was cooked beautifully. Staff are super friendly.More

The Crossways is a refurbished hotel with parking for about 30 cars. The restaurant is a large covered space open at one end with wood tables to suit couples and large family groups. A firepit is the central feature. I assume it might be lit...in winter for warmth. You order and pay at the bar and they bring your food to you. This is not a fancy place but the steak and the fish were good quality, the wines and other drinks an OK price. The night we were there they sold lots of burgers so full of ingredients they were pinned together with skewers. They also do pizzas that looked pretty good.More
