Visited with friends on a Tuesday evening as fascinated by hen racing. Hen racing only once a year in August! Very warm welcome into the pub and enjoyed the range of beers. Decided to have food and meat pie freshly cooked and good. It is a very quirky pub and worth a visit. I suspect we won't go too often... More

This is everything you want from a 'local'. Quaint, quirky, cosy and an absolutely amazing landlady. Portions are generous. Ale well kept. Nothing too much trouble even for a party of eight including an eight week old baby. Thank you for a lovely meal. We will return.

Booked dinner at The Barley Mow from the reviews we had read and were not disappointed. Had two steak and ale pies which were very delicious and plentiful. Small and quirky pub with chatty landlady and somewhere we would go back to.

What a lovely find the Barley Mow turned out to be! Really characterful pub serving great real ales. Lovely home cooked food and very friendly people - proper hospitality. We sampled the pie and the burger and even with a huge appetite built up over a long walk during the day, we were very full with just a main meal.... More

Called here whilst in the area last night having read good reviews, we weren't disappointed! Lovely home cooked food, one of the best we've had from a pub & people very friendly. Very quirky place with a variety of entertainment at weekends. Would have loved to have stopped longer. Wished it was our local! We will definitely be back!

Nothing changes with this pub, you walk in and there is Colette, as soon as you see her you know you are in safe hands, great food, cider is second to none and good whiskeys. My wife and i were on holiday nearby and had to visit once again, Colette said we have 2 steak and ale pies with mushroom... More

Called in for a drink in this beautiful pub. It has great character and I'm sure it might be haunted. Delightfully authentic and a visit is a must

This is our eating out venue of choice in the local area, a very friendly and vibrant pub. The food is upmarket restaurant quality. We're vegetarian and there's always at least three imaginative and delicious choices which never disappoint.

Went to the pub on 8 November 2016. It was exactly as described by other reviews except the bad ones. Nick and Colette do a fantastic job of bringing the feel of a small family dining room into a very lively pub. We ended up having the tomato, bean, and spinach soup starter which was lovely and I don't like... More
