Stopped on our way back to new Plymouth. Cafe was fairly busy on a Sunday afternoon. Good selection of Gelato and reasonable prices. Man who served us was very nice. Good creamy gelato, just what we wanted. Thanks.

We stopped in Hawera for breakfast and discovered the Gelato Caffe. Wonderful reception by the owner and the Eggs Benedict were just perfect. Would certainly stop there again when we pass through.

Hi Howard, yes Hawera is always good for surprises :-). Great review, thanks for that, and yes I take your comment seriously because although we say 'coffee' on signs and menus and so on it seems not obvious enough, not just for you. I'll think...More

Good food and the ice cream and gelato is some of the best I have tasted. The only problem the service is a bit slow.

Description
Enjoy award winning Gelato made daily on site! We offer fresh baked bread,German specialities like meatloaf or the faamous Bratwurst (sausage), Belgium waffles and pancakes and of course Italian coffee. In winter we have two home made soups on the menu and our ice cream sundaes are not to be missed. And best of all, everything at The Gelato Caffe is very competitivly prizes and served with a smile. Annett and Holger Zabel, owner and operator, would like to welcome you and make your visit an enjoyable one.
