Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An small authentic Japanese restaurant at the famous World Heritage Status village. The food and ambience is very good. There are Japanese style or normal table and chair seating. Service is friendly and hospitable, and English is spoken.

Irori restaurant in Shirakawago is a must visit! The food was spectacular and the cold udon and Tempura soba was divine. My daughter’s Hida Beef curry was sensational and my husband even remarked that it was the “best meal of our trip”. Everything tasted so...fresh and succulent as all the ingredients used comes from the area! This restaurant is just around the corner from the bus station and if you are only going to stay for a day, this is a must have! We are staying the night and we will be having lunch again there tomorrow before we depart for Takayama! Thank you so much for the delicious meal Irori!More

Very good grilled tofu lunch set in cozy setting right beside bus “station”. Can’t say how it compares to the various other restaurants in town, but we read about it in advance and liked it. Not too crowded even on a Sunday, but we’re guessing...tourism is way down with coronovirus.More

Place right at where vehicle can go into the village. So either you can stop for a meal here before walking into the village or having a hot soup waiting for bus to pick up the group. We chose generic menu option and it met...expectation for quality and price. We had gyudon and tempura soba. It is still great choice for meal here which is small village and selection is limitedMore

Had an early lunch here so no queue. Ordered the hida beef set and hoba miso. Found the food so so. The hida beef was a bit tough and has a beef smell so do not suit my taste. The hoba miso set was just...mainly tofu with miso grilled on hoba leaf nothing special. The saving grace was the hida beef croquette which taste crunchy and delicious.More

Go before lunch time to avoid long queue as tour buses also will stop here for lunches. Delicious hida beef, wild vegetables and soup noodles are served here. Spacious restaurant with option of western style dining table or Japanese tatami style dining. Near bus stop...to observation deck, bus station and wada house.More

Irori offers a variety of traditional foods in a pleasant, warm place. Customers can sit at a traditional tatami with low tables or at western-style tables. We ordered noodles, and received (very) large bowls of steaming, delicious udon. Casual, pleasant, well-priced. Well worth a lunch...visit while in this enchanting town.More

This place is conveniently located very close to the bus station at shirakawa - go. I think this is a place frequented by group tours too. We ordered the hoba miso (miso and fresh beancurd grilled on magnolia leaf) and grilled fish set and beancurd...pouch/puff set. We also ordered the hida beef skewer. The burnt magnolia leaf imparts a really unique flavour into the sweet miso (almost like grilled lotus leaf). I've never tasted miso this way before and it paired really well with the fresh cubes of plain beancurd. The grilled fish, although it might be a tad too salty for some people, complements really well with the hoba-miso, the soup, plain rice, soba and tsukemono. The beancurd puff that was heated on a clay charcoal burner was equally good. As the little bit of liquid below evaporates (and soaked into the beancurd), i thought that the beancurd would burn. But it did not. It, however, made the fried beancurd skin nice and crispy (think tauhu sumbat) outside. And the hida beef, needless to say, was absolutely amazing! Unlike the usual japanese food that we're exposed to, this is one of the cleanest japanese meal in terms of taste and cooking method. Insta-worthy presentation too.More

I fell in love with this place and also the cuisine. A cute tanuki statue welcome you at the front door, I can’t stop looking around when I get inside (can’t help, tourist habit). They have traditional stove (the one like fireplace at the camp...thing ^^?). If you can’t bend your knees, they also have non tatami table. We order Hida Beef Set and it was really good and not disappoint me. Set combination was simple, tofu, fish (ayu fish?), pickle, seaweed, and soba. All tasty ! This is the right place to taste local food, and the price was affordable. If you can’t want wait especially in cold weather, better booked first.More

Not bad not good, good value for money, cosy atmosphere. The tofu was a bit tasteless. But it s a good option for a quick lunch while in Shirakawago.

Although I can't remember the exact figure, a Hida Beef rice bowl or bento set will roughly cost 2000 Yen. Thus, as a couple, just allocate roughly about 4000-5000 Yen for the meal.
