There are many wayside stalls that sell the locally prepared curd, which is a very healthy food. Ask for curd made from Buffalo Milk, and insist of Palm Honey prepared from the kithul tree. Other local sweets are also avaibale to purchase.

We stopped at the roadside where a family had set up many clay pots for curd. Not to worry, the stuff rests in an old, battered but still working fridge inside. The honey is sweet and palm sugar honey is the best choice. Curd is...More

These Road side stalls sell Unique buffalo milk curd served with treacle or honey. This is probiotic. It is so delicious that I would like to introduce it to all fellow tourists travelling to Sri Lanka. The curd is prepared in earthern pots . I have some lovely pictures of these that I can post.
