What an experience - Penelope speaks very little English, but this adds to the overall magical food experience. The menu is small, but the dishes that are served are really tasty, traditional Greek home cooked food. Set in the wiggly lanes of Pyrgos town, spend a couple of hours getting lost in its nooks and crannies. If you want to... More

Where should I start from? The breathtaking view and the stunning location, under some church bells? The delicious and quality food? Mrs Penelope's handmade Apple and Orange pie? Or the very polite and kind Mrs Penelope and her husband? Everything and when I say it I literally mean everything was just perfect. My favourite place in my favourite Santorinian village.

The bread here is absolutely amazing, the best I had in Greece. If you sit outside under the Greek flag you get a great view of the streets below. Would recommend the octopus and eggplant salad, both were delicious. Though just be aware that service can be quite slow as when we went there was just the lady who was... More

After our climb up to see the church we came upon this cute little café with two blue chairs and a table here and there just by the arch of the churches bell tower. It was so cute and picturesque and simple. The orange cake was far from simple it was superb and our lovely creamy latte's were delicious. This is... More

We rented a car and got out of Fira to visit the welcoming and lovely village of Pyrgos. We walked up to the beautiful church there and found Penelope's tucked away at the lower level. (Seems the best places are always hidden and you work a bit to find them.) Penelope was there and greeted us warmly and presented us... More

Found Penelope's quite by accident. Good selection of beers. Menus is traditionally Greek but also stated in English. Food quality was excellent. Try the Crystalised Orange deserts. Owned by a really nice couple.

We passed Pyrgos on a hike and had lunch in this cafe on a recommendation from a local. Location in the heart of the village in a kind of hidden location, quick service and tasty food: spicy sausages with stewed veggies, octopus in vinegar, fava, bread.

Stumbled across this place for a quick afternoon drink while visiting pyrgos, lovely view and smell of homemade cooking, then complimentary tomato fritters arrived which made our mind up for our evening meal. This was a great evening as husband joined us taking orders and telling us about their family. Highly recommend as a traditional family run restaurant.

The food here is excellent, no denying. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. We had tried Franks up the hill but it seemed tacky and existing on the back of its wonderful sea view. The food here is much more traditional but be warned the portions are colossal! No complaints - excellent

Really fantastic simple and authentic Greek food. Exactly what we spent most of our time in Greece trying to find. Owners are adorable.
