We waited for an hour and a half to get seated despite booking. Waiting staff were completely inattentive and offered no apology or explanation despite expressing our dissatisfaction. The food was cold and tasteless. Utterly terrible.

This is a very limited menu and I think would be difficult to take fussy eaters there. The portions are small. We had a problem when they forgot the side orders which did spoil the evening as we had to wait for the sides to be cooked and the food got cold so had to send it back and request... More

We had afternoon tea with champagne, the setting was fantastic, really lovely room. We ordered the afternoon tea, and asked for a plate of sandwiches for the children. The waiter didn't understand what was needed, but said he would ask the manager if they could do it. Nothing was heard of again!! Champagne came and then two trays of sandwiches,... More

We went for a very special family celebration and I left feeling disappointed by the poor value for money and abysmal service. A vital email sent beforehand was ignored. My food was cold and the pork basically a slab of tasteless fat. Average meal at best. Had to wait a very very long time for pudding, by which time the... More

We had afternoon tea with friends and, although we had a lovely afternoon together, the food was disappointing. We started with champagne, as it was a celebration, followed by tea. The sandwiches were small and neat as could be expected, but it would have been nice to have been offered more - they would have been eaten. The scones also... More

My partner and I visited Tylney Hall on a Thursday to see the gardens as it's one of the RHS partner sites. As it was my birthday we decided to pop inside for a morning cup of tea. Walking up to the front of the house you definitely get that 'wow' moment. Sadly it ends at the front door. There... More

This is my second afternoon tea review, please read the other one for a proper comparison. I was very much looking forward to this one as I had heard good things about it. I was expecting it to be much grander and more lavish than our previous one at Heckfield Park. On arrival, the outside of the hotel is lovely... More

No, it's not cheap. Yes the portions are small, or they're a reasonable size and not huge. But, the food is superb, the service is second to none and at the end of your meal you are full. Highly recommended.

We both had the table d`hote. There was a choice of 3 starters and 3 main courses, but we thought that the selection was poor. Starters included soup and steak tartare, which is not to everyone`s taste. We had the smoked salmon, which was nicely presented, but not very exciting, and was a small portion. The main course choice was... More

We had booked a table for lunch celebrating my wife"s 70th. birthday at the suggestion of some friends. From the moment we entered the reception area, the service was excellent. We were ushered into one of the reception rooms where we drank our aperitifs before having our order taken. The lunch menu was fairly limited (three each starters, main dishes... More
