Good choice of food on the menu including staples like steak pie and chips. I had ox cheek with pak choi chilli which was delicious. They also serve sandwiches, light meals and pizza. Puds were fine and service was good. All in all worth a visit if you're in the area.

Booked a table for 4 of us (2 adults and 2 children). The variety of meals on the menu was great (kids menu too), but the actual food itself was beautifully presented and really tasty. When we entered, we expected some fairly standard "pub grub", but this was nothing of the sort. It's really first class and the staff were... More

Friday lunchtime treat to catch up with an old friend, we wanted somewhere quiet and cozy. Quiet it was; but staff were inattentive and got order wrong three times. That wasn't as bad as finding the bread of my ham sandwich was mouldy. Admittedly I wasn't charged for the sandwich but shall not be going back.

We visited at Sunday lunchtime. It was a really cold day but the restaurant was also cold. Menus were brought quite quickly but we weren't told about the daily specials - only after we had ordered our food did we see people on another table order food from the specials board - which had been brought to their table. Although... More

We had a lovely meal at the Sandstone tonight. Lovely special of Sea Bream had by two of us and everyone was very pleased with their meal. The restaurant had a blip this last summer with several different chefs, but has bounced back and so definitely worth another try.

This was our second visit to the Sandstone - the other was at least two years ago. This is because we could not find it for a long time; even forgot the name! Now that we have it firmly located, we will return; maybe, just maybe, to sample some of their other offerings than the fabulous Sunday Lunch. We are... More

Had our second visit to The Sandstone today and as per the 1st visit the food was excellent. There was a bit of a delay because the Chef had phoned in sick but hey ho these things happen and nothing to get mithered and worked up about. The staff are friendly and helpful and it is a nice pub with... More

My husband and I stopped here while out walking. We shared a fantastic margherita pizza (hand-rolled base) and crunchy fries, and didn't share our cider. The place was very welcoming and cosy, and the barman (I'm afraid I didn't catch his name) was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. We weren't able to stay longer (to have dessert...
