We arrived just before mid day, and were the first ones there. We had different foccacias, and as my wife's diet is restricted she asked for one with no cheese. The waiter was quite incredulous, but brought one as requested, apologising that without cheese it...More

Thank you for your review. Bistro Gourmand is not a 'fast food' joint, the concept of our restaurant is that you have your table for the whole evening and take time to enjoy your food. Each dish is cooked individually so this can take a...More

The place is French with typical bistro menu that is all cooked freshly with Gallic flair. It is full of locals who obviously frequent it often. The prices are very reasonable and therefore cannot but recommend it whole heartedly. A local treasure.

The food was amazing. Very big menu to choose from, including at least 5 fish mains. Be warned the starters are on the large size... we had no room for deserts unfortunately. The quality and presentation were great and the service friendly and prompt. We...More

Fabulous fresh food beautifully cooked. Quick service, friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. The only improvement would be just one vegetarian main course option on the menu.

This is my favourite local eating place. Frank does everything pretty well on his own...cooking beautiful French food and serving choices of wine and other drinks. Lovely friendly atmosphere and well loved by many of the local folk.

Easy to find in the picturesque village of Rottingdean you will find the French inspired restaurant, Bistro Gourmand. French chef Frank Thomeret tell us about his creation. "It's very much a bistro thing, but its original, traditional bistro food, things you might not find somewhere else. My influences are very Mediterranean, so I make dishes such as the bouillabaisse, its a fish stew with garlic and wine flambe with prawns. My menu has wonderful variety, as well as steaks, I have coq au vin, veal chops and lamb cassoulet. The portions are generous and the price very reasonable. I call it Provencal cuisine". So if you fancy some delicious home cooked food with a difference, then this is the place for you.
