Just driving past and called in. Very welcoming staff, made to feel welcome. Dining room busy so we chose to eat in the bar area. Cosy fire, nicely presented bottle of tap water, lovely food, on the expensive side but very nice. Can't understand the negative comments. I'm picky and was very happy to eat here.

Lovely and welcoming staff. Top quality food and a good real ale selection. Not for those who crave nightlife, peace at it's best without the disturbance of mobile connectivity. Beautiful surroundings, no noise or light pollution. Peace and tranquility at its best.

We had called in some time ago for a drink but returned this weekend with friends for an overnight stay. Our room was in the stable block and was perfect for us and our two dogs. The shower was powerful, a big bath and the large double bed was really comfortable. The inn at hawnby is not the ritz and... More

... and the atmosphere is better still. Some nice fellow diners (and their dogs) add to the charm. A great place to start and end a walk, Hawnby is set England's very finest countryside. Good wine and local beer, very fresh ingredients and a good team in the kitchen.

Booked this old, 9 room hotel for a two night stay with friends, via Travelzoo, as a base for a North Yorks car tour. When we arrived our keys were on the foyer table with a letter explaining that we should make ourselves at home and book a time for dinner, as everyone was out. Now, that kind of describes... More

What a weird place. Looks like it is in renovation. Extremely scruffy. Strange staff. 3 of us had ciabatta sandwiches. Fortunately my husband and I shared one.2 were prawn and cray fish ciabatta and 1 was cheese. We had to look for the filling. The ciabatta bread was so dry with no butter on at all. My sister got he... More

We stayed at Easter side farmhouse in Hawnby on 22-08-2016.The lady at the farm recommended the inn at Hawnby for food as it was only a short distance away. When we got there it was not to busy and the landlord said that we were ok for food but there is a forty minute wait which we thought was strange... More

Went up into North Yorkshire for the day and spent sometime in Helmsley and then on to The Inn at Hawnby. A little off the beaten track but worth the effort. The Inn was clean and tidy and the menu was small but well varied. We sat outside for a drink first and admired the lovely view from the front... More
