I have stayed at & purposely visited for food & atmosphere on numerous occasisions over the past 40 years, its never dropped in its standards, only according to the times. The food is so plentiful in portion size, the welcoming is first class & the rooms are of the highest standard, room 9 has a 4 poster. Have been snowed... More

What is a Yorkshire Pub supposed to be? Well, this one is a close to the best experience available in my opinion. Why? I think this place is a 'one size fits all' kind of place. At the Lion Inn, you are on the top of a wind swept Moore Cragg with precipitous drops either side of the escarpment. You... More

I wanted an oak beam, real ale, good food pub for an adventure across North Yorkshire. That's exactly what we got. Food portions were too large for me, would have been better to have a small plate option as I hate wasting food. The four poster bed was tiny and a tad uncomfortable but the room beautifully warm and plenty... More

Real walkers meals served here. Good food and plenty of it. Never had a bad meal. Beer great too. Good at any time of year. Thoroughly recommend. Great vegetarian menu too. Nut Roast particularly good.

My partner and I booked a table here for lunch on New Years Day. We were glad we booked as the pub was packed! We were sat in one of the dining rooms with a large table surrounded by Christmas decorations and near a fire, which all added to the atmosphere of the place. Although clearly very busy, the staff... This traditional style country pub on the beautiful Blakey Ridge offers a warm welcome to visitors of all ages. As a group of 9 family members of very mixed age range from child to senior citizen, some with specific dietry requirements, we stopped off on a lunchtime between Christmas and New Year. The staff were really helpful and found us... More

You will not be disappointed when you eat at the lion Inn. Great choice of food, very large portions and a lot of the food is really home-made. Brilliant place to eat as you take in the North Yorkshire Moors scenery.

Had the Lamb chops, must have been at least half a dozen with a lovely bit of mash, so fresh it was still bleeting. Our lad had the steak, he asked "if it was part of our family", when i said "why" he said "because it had ben so well hung". Joking aside lovely fresh meat. Not the smartest or... More

The wide selection on the menu will allow even the pickiest eater to select something to eat. The food is of the finest quality, and the selection of ales, beers and spirits are second to none,

Had Sunday lunch. We arrived just before 12. Fires roaring as always. Already busy. Ordered hot roast beef sandwiches they came with chips and salad. It was fab. We have eaten their lots of times and it's always good home cooked food. They welcome walkers dogs and wellies. The restaurant is a bit posher than the bar. We enjoy both.... More
