Although we were the only people in on a Friday night, which made the atmosphere a little quiet, we enjoyed our meals and the service we got. If in Watou again, we would happily go back.

We ate here on Saturday night and had a special meal. The menu was very varied with some quality choices to select from. We tried the Wagyu beef which was exceptional. I always think that the test of a good restaurant is if there is...More

I was at this restaurant in the middle of the week, out-of-season. I was the only guest. The inside of the restaurant had a pungent smell of frying oil. The waiter/owner explained that this was caused by cleaning the frying pan. I ordered lamb chops....More

Enjoying a quiet evening, working at the website comes in this “gentleman”. I knew I was in for hassle...A few comments to his remarks. Hopefully better during high season: our quality standard is always the same, day in day out. Pungent smell of frying oil:...More

We had a great dinner and a warm welcome as well as a personal translation of the menu into English from the Owner. The local village has a number of restaurants and we were pleased with our choice of De Paterstafel.

Great little restaurant on the square in Watou. Small and intimate, you feel that you are a guest in someone's home. The wall mural and quirky table add to the atmosphere, and the food was excellent. I've said "yes" to kids, but it would be...More

The host was very rude and clearly taking advantage of the fact that they were the only open restaurant in town that night. We won't be returning.More

No idea what happened. Apparently those people did not have a meal in our restaurant as there is no comment on the food. They probably showed up without reservation and were informed they could not have diner or lunch. I do understand their disappointment and...More

A good meal, the fish menu was very tasty. Beer from St Bernardus so obviously delicious. The host kindly kept the score from the England - Iceland game to himself until we foolishly insisted.

We took advantage of the Spring menu which showcased asparagus, rabbit and a delicious perfumed sorbet for dessert. The food was plentiful and excellent value. Highly recommended!

I understand the restaurant has capacity for 20 customers. We arrived at 8.30pm (the sign outside says open until 9.30pm), but because we hadn't booked in advance we couldn't be accommodated. There were only 4 people eating in the restaurant at the time. Hardly the...More

It' s correct that we could not accomodate you as we had reservations (late arrival). When you came in I said hello and informed you that it was not possible to have diner in our place. What more can I do? I do understand your...More

The atmosphere is something in between a small bistro and a "home-kitchen". Service is very personal and sometimes too close. Interior is a mixture of all kinds of accessoires, brocante, wall paintings, swiss souvenirs... The menu is the same mixture of all kinds of suggestions,...More

Food quality: glad you appreciated the quality of the food. Our restaurant: about 20 seats. Unformal, relax atmosphere. Looking for stiff and formal service? Please enjoy somewhere else. Interior: reading other comments it's cosy and relaxing, but taste is personal and everybody develops his own.Swiss...More
