Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place has a high rating, but the food was not what the ratings would suggest. We found the portions small, the sambal/salad was literally just chopped tomato and onion in a bowl, and the flavour and complexity in every dish was lacking. Having said...that - the staff were lovely, the restaurant is well presented and the place was very busy. I guess lots of people like bland.More

Amazing food and great service. It’s been a few years since I’ve been here and I’d forgotten how wonderfully they create their food dishes.

Ramas has long been considered Canberra’s best Fijian Indian restaurant. Owner, Mini, has recognised the growing demand for plant based dishes and has revised her menu which now includes an array of delicious choices from vegan samosas and pumpkin roti to all your favourite curries.

Young lady serving at front counter on 1 March 23 needs to learn how to better own/accept and deal with mistakes when interacting with customers at work. She ran through the order and forgot the roti which was fine. When I politely brought it to...her attention she became incredibly awkward. Her jerky response after a pause was “Ah yes… I was… just….testing you” (…?). It was rather an odd way to deal with her oversight. I said I wanted to pay on card (savings) and tap. She said “No, you can’t tap for savings”. I replied that it was possible, finally tapping my card to show her- it worked immediately. I mentioned that I often tapped on saving and she haughtily turned away saying “It doesn’t matter- it worked”. So much for trying to learn about it for next time! The fact that she was mistaken about both of the above things was not a problem- no big deal. But trying to gloss it over and dodge her mistakes in front of customers is not. Everyone makes mistakes at work- it’s not a problem. But you need to own it in front of customers and deal with it more gracefully. Otherwise it really does not make a good impression on the customers you are serving. It doesn’t go unnoticed by customers and your reaction just makes you seem a little foolish. I hope this will be helpful to learn from for next time.More

Delicious Indian food with truly flavoursome curries - a little different to your normal Indian restaurant (no tandoori oven) but Ramas has its own amazing dishes and entrees. Canberra locals, like myself, love this restaurant as service and food remains consistent - which is why...they have been open for 30+ years!! Highly recommend the delicious Chicken Korma, Lamb Saag, Pumpkin/Coconut Roti Parcel and Vege Samosas for entree and Garlic Paratha bread. Best part about Rama's is that nothing is a hassle and they can make the curries as spicy or mild as you request. Also, they are BYO with free corkage!!!More

Waitress was chewing gum and played with it on her lips while at shrugging and behaving as though we were inconveniencing her by ordering our meal. It was quite disgusting. I have never experienced anything like it before. Owner and food were fine.

We came for dinner - loved the place . The hostess and staff are so friendly & we felt at home Fiji style. Dishes were tasty and generous in serving. Place was packed. It’s located in the burbs of Canberra , but well worth venturing...out to. We will certainly eat here again, next time in Canberra.More

We have been dining in at Ramas and ordering home delivery for many years now, but after another disappointing food delivery last night, we won't be doing it again. Over the years, the rice has often been soggy and unappetising so we took to preparing...our own. We have had food delivered which was not what we ordered and it's often delivered late and going cold. Last night, we ordered onion bhaji and received some other thing in balls with spinach which were undercooked and cold. We also ordered chicken Korma and were given some lamb dish we couldn't identify. However, the worst part was, the Raita was "on the turn" which I only discovered after I put it all over my curry. Seriously, they sent out old, nearly off food! At least they have stopped pressing us to pay be cash for their expensive food, however, we will not be ordered from Ramas ever again!More

A group of us visited Ramas for a banquet dinner. From the moment we arrived, we were made very welcome. The food was delicious. My favourites were the roti parcels and the beef vindaloo. In my mind, what sets this restaurant apart from many other...very good restaurants is the service - friendly and welcoming, with check-in’s timed appropriately during natural lulls in conversation. I felt like anything we wanted would not be too much trouble. When a restaurant makes you feel so welcome, that’s a special thing.More

I visited Rama's for the first time last week after having heard a great deal about it. Expectations were sky high and it was delivered with finesse complete with the joy of Mango Kulfi. While the cuisine is an adaptation of the owner Mini's Fijian-Indian...heritage, my South Indian heart did a little dance at every taste. To say that Rama's exceeded expectations would be an understatement. The cuisine was high-quality and the service impeccable. The service was extremely personal and warm. The restaurant's face, Mini is a bundle of energy and the perfect hostess. Her culinary recommendations and the chef's creations were only outdone by her genuine hospitality and friendliness. The service team was focussed on spacing out the meals and allowing sufficient time between courses. I highly recommend Rama's. It is no surprise to me that Mini and Rama's has managed to survive three decades in the fickle Canberran culinary scene. Pure quality!More

Bought a beef dish and a lamb dish to take home. The beef dish had large chunks of meat which was stringy and tough. The chicken dish was tender but also had big pieces. The sauce for both dishes tasted exactly the same ! Threw...most of it into the garbage bin.More

Ramas has switched to takeaway only during the current crisis, but the food is still as good as ever. The portions are generous and the menu is sufficiently diverse without being too extensive. The prices are very good for the quality of the product. The...process of ordering and pickup works very smoothly. Free home delivery is available for proximate suburbs.More

We have been coming here for years and have never ever been disappointed. It doesn't matter if it is just as a couple or in a large group, the food and service is fantastic. This occassion was a small group of 7 and we ate...so much. The hostess is amazing and always so cheerful. No wonder the place is always full of people. We had the mixed entrees as well as extra pakoras. Mains included Dhal, beef vindaloo, lamb madras, chicken korma, vegetable korma and a madras fish curry. All wonderful. The service is very good, efficient and friendly. The atmosphere is alive and fun and on a warm night, it is lovely to sit out side and enjoy the meal.More
