Truly exceptional dining experience. Warmly welcomed, comfortably seated in pleasant surroundings ( no background music- plus point) and promptly given menus to look at when M.Jany Gleize ( head chef/ proprietor) arrived and we were able to discuss menu and the gardens on site from where many herbs, etc are from. Plus roses/ flowers on the tables. The whole meal was... More

Our best friend treated us to a dining package at a Relais & Chateaux restaurant of our choice. We selected this one as it's close to our house. When I called to book, I had the same vibe I got all those years ago when I booked a table at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons: efficient, friendly without being ostentatious. And... More

Dear Madam, It is an honour to be compared with Raymond Blanc’s Manoir aux Quat’saisons in Oxford, one of the nicest places in the United Kingdom. What a pleasure, thank you, my brave team and myself are very proud. Thank you for taking time to describe in details your experience in La Bonne Etape, and for the recommendation to readers... This restaurant is elegant in appearance, but overall, the food was disappointing. In particular, the fish was quite dry. The best course was a risotto with spelt and truffles. Not worth the price overall. A fresh approach needed

A well deserved 1 Michelin star, the service was efficient, the food was tasty with 1 star presentation. The standout of the meal was the preparation of the vegetables, particularly the mushrooms-best I have ever had. A solid 1 star experience in a country style, yet formal atmosphere.

Superb, sophisticated dining in a formal, yet relaxing setting. Great service, but not suffocating. My wife and I have dinned at several " Michelin-starred" restaurants in the past three weeks. We think this one is certainly deserving of the star.

The most delicious lamb from the local area around Sisteron - prepared to perfection. The three-course meal was a delight. Local wines very enjoyable at reasonable prices.

Dear Madam, Thank you for taking time to post this very nice advice. The more chauvinistic people in here say Sisteron lamb is the best in the world. Exaggeration is often the rule in Provence, but I will not say the opposite. I and my brilliant team are happy to know you enjoyed the time you spent with us and... More

M. Jany Gleize is a most welcoming host, and Michelin chef, not only greeting diners post dinner, but also during breakfast. If you enjoy great French cuisine, then you need to stop over at La Bonne Etape during your travels. to celebrate my birthday I was given a dinner in this restaurant. The food is traditional French and very good. The wine list is enormous with some great wines.
