The Peking Duck & accompanying pancakes were barely warm. The duck was overcooked and had been sitting outside of the oven instead of being served crisp and fresh. The service was slow and ordinary and the duck was not carved at the table. The soup was flavourless and the pork spare ribs consisted of greasy microwaved rubbish. You could not... More

The peking duck is very tasty and succulent. Had 3 ducks for a table of seven. Had their noodles too, not bad. Restaurant , typical chinese restaurant, noisy. Very old furnishing, and pack. Toilets situated upstairs. Floor( wooden flooring) was slippery(oily) when I walked upstairs to go to the toilets

Yes this restaurant was the same as the usual Chinese restaurant. After reading reviews re the Peking Duck we expected something super special but were disappointed. Very ordinary and badly served. Not enough staff, noise level shocking, too crowded (on a Tuesday night) and why oh why weren't we advised when we made our booking that it is a CASH... More

This place is quite good; the duck is reasonably cheap (around $60 a duck) and very delicious; the meat is incredibly succulent, the pancakes wafer thin and the trimmings (cucumber and onion) are pre portioned, so you can make your wrap to suit. The duck also comes with 2 extra courses; stir-fried bean shoots with duck meat, as well as... More

I've lost count on how many times we've been here for their Peking Ducks in the last two decades. Uncle Simon used to own and run this place, not much from the outside, messy, old, plain and dirty, prerequisite of a great traditional Chinese restaurant. But their Peking Ducks wrapped with their hand-made thin, fluffy/doughy skin is simply one of... More

Was staying down the road and craving duck. Found this place via a 'near me' search. Very happy. Especially like the duck being sliced in front of us. Delicious meal. All three duck dishes were good. Would definitely go back again. Has a good old feel to the place too. Don't expect a shiny modern fitout. Just good old tasty... More

We came here for a team lunch and the boss knows why we came and that is nothing else but the QUACK QUACK! We ordered a three course Peking duck feast. It started with one of the staff showcasing his excellent knife skills, slicing through to cut the meat, removing the legs and wings. These are enjoyed with hoisin sauce... More

We had the 3 course duck with my friend. The duck is acceptable with crispy skin. The vegetable that goes with the duck is skimping too much. Otherwise the experience is not bad. Could still improve a bit. Luckily we arrive early. By the time we left the place was full, on a Tuesday night. Not my first choice at... More

If your visiting old Kingdom stay strong and go for the set menu 3 course duck. I would recommend for 2 people get 1 duck and loosen your belts, like many before you, you will be probably be full before the second course. First is the Peking duck, next is the stir fry dish followed by a refreshing duck stock... More

The serve great peking duck here, we ordered one duck (3-course), starting off with crispy duck skin and pancake, then duck meat noodles and finishing off with duck soup. The food was very delicious, but the service was disappointing, they definitely need more staff to cover the whole restaurants as it was very difficult to fine the staff everywhere and... More

Staying in Fitzroy

Neighbourhood Profile
Fitzroy
Fitzroy is an unusual blend of working class roots, hip gentrification, and a robust bohemian work ethic. Along Brunswick Street and its side streets, you'll find little independent shops where local clothes and furniture designers display their wares. There are specialist bookshops, funky record bars, and quality vintage clothing shops where browsing is the next best thing to buying. Gertrude Street is famous for its cuisine and art galleries, but if you want to buy an old-fashioned snooker table, there is a shop for that too. Small pubs still exist, tucked away on the corners of suburban side streets that serve up traditional Sunday roasts. Live music abounds, and the street performers play so hard you worry to tip them would ruin their concentration. Venture to the Spanish quarter on Johnston Street and you may even find street dancing. It is all happening amidst off-beat street murals and the shuffle of a very funky neighbourhood that embraces both old and new.
