Went here to celebrate our wedding anniversary....we were originally seated in the Atrium area, but due to a very large & noisy family party that was also in there, the Boss Lady took pity on us and we were moved into a much quieter area near the fire place (which was a nice touch) Food was excellent and really enjoyable....steak,... Straight off the plane from Perth, we were whisked off to the Fitzroy Town Hall for freshly shucked oysters with a shallot vinaigrette and champagne to recharge our batteries and they certainly did. Followed up with a main course of Sardinian Fish Stew with Snapper Fillet, Tiger Prawn, Mussels, Clams, Cuttlefish, Saffron & Fregola which we shared as an entree,... More

We had an intimate wedding reception in the courtyard room. It was amazing and everything that we had hoped for. The service from the first contact through to the end of the night was excellent. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough!

I keep coming back because I love this place, the atmosphere is always terrific. The food is always good, especially the steaks and the wine list is excellent. The staff are attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The only issue is that it's not cheap, although it's a pub it definitely charges like an up market restaurant.

A birthday celebration was arranged in an upstairs function room with the staff providing excellent service along with very good catering. After the early afternoon upstairs function we continued on downstairs in the front bar. The location is easy to access from the city with the downstairs bar and outdoor areas appearing to be well supported by both locals and... More

There were five of us for dinner and it cost us $570 this included a couple of bottles of not expensive wine. The big item was $220 for a share steak for three. It was okay. We ordered medium rare and got rare. This place specialises in steak. It's been a while since I have been to Vlados. But it... More

We're Fitzroy locals and we were a bit surprised by some really good reviews of what looks like just pub, so we had to give it a crack. Oh yeah, it was good! We went all seafood and it was really, really good. If you like sashimi, you really need to try the raw fish, it was amazing. The fish... More

Welcome to Fitzroy Town Hall Hotel! Fresh new life has been pumped into this classic public house by chef Sean Donovan and his team. A series of cosy and intimate beautifully curated spaces offering a wide range of drinking and dining experiences have been created. The venue offers four distinct areas, a traditional yet stylish public bar complete with vintage tiling, wood panelling and a snug offering premium craft beverages and casual dining spaces. The bistro dining room has a hunting lodge feel with rich tartans, textured wallpaper and ambient lighting alongside a juxtaposing light, green and lush conservatory feel dining area. Exclusive private dining is offered in the old wine cellar and is perfect for a range of special occasions from intimate wedding parties to corporate events. The upstairs level has been restored to its former glory to offer a flexible and accommodating space. This gorgeous area will cater to dining, functions, bar and lounge areas and access to the balcony which overlooks Johnson Street. Fitzroy Town Hall Hotel offers a variety of generous, quality driven, unpretentious dining experiences as well as accommodating those who simply wish to come in, pull up a bar stool and enjoy a nice cold beer! Our menu focuses on seasonal, fresh, artisan ingredients with a European flavour. Premium beef and seafood, smokey wood bbq and rotisserie echo Donovan's rustic and generous yet finessed style of cooking. Ultimately our goal is to recreate the ambiance of the quintessential corner pub that offers excellent food with Donovan's well-known generosity in portions and flavour.

Staying in Fitzroy

Neighbourhood Profile
Fitzroy is an unusual blend of working class roots, hip gentrification, and a robust bohemian work ethic. Along Brunswick Street and its side streets, you'll find little independent shops where local clothes and furniture designers display their wares. There are specialist bookshops, funky record bars, and quality vintage clothing shops where browsing is the next best thing to buying. Gertrude Street is famous for its cuisine and art galleries, but if you want to buy an old-fashioned snooker table, there is a shop for that too. Small pubs still exist, tucked away on the corners of suburban side streets that serve up traditional Sunday roasts. Live music abounds, and the street performers play so hard you worry to tip them would ruin their concentration. Venture to the Spanish quarter on Johnston Street and you may even find street dancing. It is all happening amidst off-beat street murals and the shuffle of a very funky neighbourhood that embraces both old and new.
