What a beautiful and fantastic place. A bit of the beaten track but well worth the division. The hospitality from the onset was what you would want from a country pub. Doors held open for you, and then a full explanation of the room and facilities available. The dining experience didn't disappoint. Up to date menus with the joyful mess... More

One of the most satisfying Sunday Roasts I've ever eaten. A massive plateful: great big Yorkshires, thick cuts of meat, loads of veg and proper homemade gravy. Everyone in the group cleaned their plates.

I came here for lunch with a friend in early November. You get your classic roast choices on a Sunday but not as a carvery form, it's plated up. I had the beef which was served rare (I was asked if this was OK by the waitress when I ordered) it was perfect. Tender, flavourful and great portion size. My... More

This was a complete surprise and what a delicious one. The pub we'd intended going to was very full of children as it was half term and as we'd just shared our visit to Barrington Court with many many fine offspring we fancied a quieter pub to eat in. We received a warm welcome and excellent pints and they found... More

Visited the Boar on a busy Saturday evening on the recommendation of friends, and glad we did. A lovely pub in a stunning village and with a fabulous atmosphere. We had a warm welcome from the staff and were shown to our table, where we enjoyed a fabulous pint of bucket of blood and Exmoor ale. The Boar has a... More

Our running club turned up to the pub on Sunday 31st October after having arranged to run from the pub. Our run organiser had been told by a member of staff not to park in the pub's car park as they had limited parking and a busy Sunday. We arrived in the village and began to park on the road... More

Once again I find myself defending myself against a reviewer who didn't even enter the premises. As I have stated before no one from this running club spoke with myself or any of my team about visiting here and certainly we wouldn't have permitted a large group here without prior consultation. There were numerous vehicles parked in the car park... More

The landlord should be running a restaurant, not a pub. Despite phoning in advance and a member of his staff putting into their book/diary that a group of us (runners) would be coming after a run on Sunday lunchtime, when we arrived he complained that he didn't know about us coming, refused to let us park in his carpark, threatened... I do not usually respond to reviews but feel on this occasion I have to. This is a complete fabrication, firstly no one arranged for a large party of fun runners to occupy my car park whilst they went running, we are a busy pub restaurant and had 60 people booked in for Sunday lunch and those customers require parking.... We decided last minute to stop at The Barrington Boar as we were visiting the National Trust property nearby. Accommodation was lovely, recently refurbished. Very clean and comfortable, nicely decorated. Breakfast cooked to order and very tasty. Would love to go back some time when we are in the area for a meal. We were made to feel very welcome.

The pub was not overly busy, but there was a large group in the restaurant, so opted to eat in the bar. Bar was warm, with a log burner on the go. Grabbed a drink & sat down. Opted for a menu dish & a meal from the specials board. Food came quickly & was hot. Very tasty, seasoned well... More

The Barrington Boar sits in the middle of the lovely village of Barrington. Also close to the National Trust venue of Barrington Court. It has a really good atmosphere and Steve and his team provide a very warm and friendly welcome. Local ciders are available - plus all the usual options of course - as well as a really good... More
