Fresh trout (caught just before it is prepared). The filet with butter and garlic was really tasty. The simple salad very refreshing--not much like this in other restaurants.

After a long day travelling from Monteverde we made it to San Gerardo de Dota early in the evening. We we're devestated and ordered a full meal at restaurant Los Lagos. First we got a potato soup, which was so so, followed by a main course of trout filet, fried in white wine, french fries and a rich, full salad.... More

We had lunch here and my smoked trout dip was fantastic! Two people had black bean soup which had lots of additions but the soup was a little weak. Another person had caprice salad and it was delicious. Only strange thing is they would not sell wine by the bottle but only by the glass even though they pour it... More

We headed for the pizzeria after reading great reviews but he was closed this Saturday. We had planned to try Los Lagos for dinner and went for late lunch instead. No other customers at two and we sat on the patio for great sunshine and busy hummingbirds amid the many flowering shrubs and feeders. Got some good photos. Very friendly.... More

The good was great and we paid $5 with our entrance fee but we were part of G Adventures. The hot spring were gorgeous and the beer was cold. The music was up beat and happy. The staff were friendly and speedy with service. Tip the server you will get better service at the bar.

We wanted to try a new restaurant and ended up at Los Lagos. We we're welcomed by a really lovely elderly lady. We didn't get a menu, but she summed up three dishes in Spanish. Since our Spanish is less than basic ordering was quite a challenge. We got the feeling there were little options and we also didn't know... More

I visited this restaurant on January 01. All the restaurants in the area were closed due to the holiday and Los Lagos was the only one open. This situation led me to give Los Lagos a try and I couldn't be happier. The food was tasty, and even though the service was a bit slow (the restaurant was crowded), the... More

After reading "Ani from Oregon's" review we feel that we had almost identical experiences. The valley known as San Gerardo de Dota IS a lovely Garden of Eden and although we only spent the nights there we at all of our breakfast and dinner meals at Los Lagos. Paulina was also like our mother and her daughter Gerardina and other... More

The trout our kids fished themselves in their little pond was quickly fried - served with French fries... Not tasteful at all and more expensive than other lunches we had in the region - maybe the cook was on vacation ?

This restaurant has the best Trout in the area. Prepared fresh daily. The value of the meals are exceptional. Doña Chinchilla, the owner is warm and friendly and works hard in the kitchen everyday. That says a lot because she oversees all the food preparation. The trout ponds are close by so you can see the fish and how the... More
