My wife and I had coffee and toasties here. The drinks and food were great, but the service really set it apart. Very welcoming and friendly. A pleasure to visit!

Visited wife with and wheel-chair bound Mother-in-law. It was a shop not built for wheelchairs but they moved tables and gave MIL a marvellous view so their hospitality is second to none. And that was before we got to the cake! My wife described her chocolate and walnut brownie as the best ever - and she's picky and Yorkshire born... More

Stopped in for a quick lunch and ordered a soup and cheese scone. The service was great, very welcoming and friendly, and the food was delicious. The mushroom soup was tasty and not too creamy, the scone warm and satisfying. Good value too. Definitely pop in if you are nearby!

We called here first time on spec and we are so glad that we did. We've been back today. It's a small cafe with a decent breakfast and lunch time menu. With loads of home made food, including cakes. The service is excellent. It is friendly and accommodating- for example today we wanted soup and a toasted sandwich. The menu... More

We visited Overton House Cafe for the second year running and we're delighted to find that the lunches are as good as we remembered from last year. Today had hot homemade soup and freshly made, warm cheese scone. Delicious on a cold day!

Popped in twice one day before and after a walk. Nice cheesy toppings on muffins in the morning for brunch. In the afternoon I had a generous mug of Marimba hot chocolate served with cream and marshmallows plus a jug to top up with. So full that by supper time I really wasn't hungry.

The service was good, the staff were friendly, but the food was at best ordinary (my cottage pie) and at worst disgusting (the wife's tuna and cheese on toast). The cottage pie was a bought affair that would suit a picnic basket - neither good nor bad. The tuna effort was one of the worst things either of us have... More

Dear jake1642, I am very sorry that you found your recent visit to us "very disappointing" in relation to the food you chose. I had noticed that you had left food on your plates and can remember asking if everything had been alright - you raised no objections. I feel very aggrieved by the fact that you have written this... Description
Under new management, we have changed the focus of Overton House. As well as serving homemade soups, light lunches, snacks and an array of sweet treats, we also sell many of these items to take out. Soup, sandwiches, savouries, scones and cakes are some examples. The small shop section of the cafe sells unusual deli items, Emma Bridgewater pottery and delicious treats from the likes of Mad Hatter Tea, Corks and Cases Masham, Taylor's of Harrogate and Nakd. As we're a family-owned, family-run business, we close on Mondays (except Bank Holidays) and Thursdays.
