Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This wasn't a planned restaurant foray but having been, will consider it a destination meal in the future. What a little treasure in Mornington Peninsula's Balnarring. It's a small and serene place where every course is presented beautifully with an explanation of the ingredients which...are, in turn, quite extraordinary. 400 year-old soy sauce, smoothest sashimi untouched by human hand, crisp and soft prawn gyoza, home-made yogurt flavoured with chef's home-grown Yuzu citrus - the master chef has had a stellar career in big-name places but this little gem has big impact. It's a tiny place so book ahead.More

We enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal here. The Omakase menu was so interesting with well balanced flavours and fresh ingredients. Attention to detail was evident in every aspect: courses, presentation, service and ambience. Service was friendly, efficient and considerate. Would recommend this restaurant enthusiastically.

We loved our meal at this restaurant. The set price menu was a journey through the classic Japanese dishes, from a delicious potato salad on a cracker, to fresh and beautiful sashimi and sushi, crispy pork gyozas, tender and delicious beef teriyaki to the beautifully...simple dessert of yuzu yoghurt and fruit made from the Master’s (owner and chef) own garden. Great service and hospitality makes for a special experience. We’ll worth the visit to Balnarring.More

Quality ingredients, elegantly crafted and thoroughly enjoyed. I am glad we chose to try this restaurant. Having recently moved to the area I read good things and understood that we would be in very experienced hands. I enjoyed our set menu and look forward to...dining a part carte again when staffing allows. Recommended.More

Sensibly, due to staff absence due to training, the normal a la carte options were suspended and a $75 fixed price menu offered. It was all absolutely delicious, course after course of tasty traditional fare, some cold (sashimi, sushi, chicken salad), ending with a rich...perfectly cooked tenderloin in teriyaki sauce. Just delicious.More

Absolutely beautiful lunch. Delicate flavours of Japan shine in this restaurant. From the Japanese potato salad to the ultra fresh sushi and sashimi, the exquisite steak, you know there is a Master in the kitchen. The little things, like the 400 year old soy! A...small but excellent sake choice, with assistance from the maître’d who has a wonderful knowledge of this special beverage. Every course is served on beautiful plates that match the cuisine. It is a set menu, of the Masters choice, consequently everything is super fresh and in season.....beautiful!More
