Lunch options were two bento sets (both very filling with a lot of variety), and all very fresh. owner was very friendly, chatting with us and asking us where we were from. during the traditional music performance, he also made an effort to translate some of the explanation to English so we could understand. he even did an impromptu performance... Excellent meal at this traditional restaurant. Wonderful atmosphere. Very welcoming host who spoke English and explained available 2 set meal options. Had the 3900 Yen set lunch and some hot sake, which I both highly recommend. I will treasure the memories of this charming restaurant.

Kikko was definitely worth the trek and did not disappoint in taste and freshness. The employee's were attentive and friendly. The food was authentic traditional Japanese style food and sushi. I highly recommend this experience to anyone traveling to Japan. The Menu rotates, but definitely go for their seasonal sliced raw fish! They have a great selection of Sake and... More

We found this quaint and charming restaurant by chance, walking down the street after visiting Sensoji Temple. They had bentos in two different sizes. We ordered the smaller size for 35,000 yen not knowing what we were getting. We sat comfortably on the floor with a pit for our legs under the table. The bento consisted of many small dishes.... Would go again, would recommend...Once we found it, the entire experience was amazing! The whole family took part in making our evening fun and filling. The small portions and multiple courses were a great way to try many different traditional foods. The music was spectacular, and definitely was a great way to wrap up exploring the shrines and city.

I think it is geared towards tourists, which means it's probably overpriced, but they are so nice and welcoming and you get a set Japanese meal to test out new flavors. Entertainment is just ok, but interesting to see Japanese guitar-like instruments in use. Good respite from activity and crowds around shrine. Need a reservation.

I reserved a table for dinner a few weeks before our trip to Japan because I knew we couldn't miss the experience of Kikko. It was by far the most expensive meal we ate and completely worth it. Every course was gorgeous, seasonal, and delicious. A few things were a bit scary for a Westerner like me, but on the... More

We arrived at 7:30 pm our first attempt to go here however we were turned away because they specially closed early just that day (at 6pm). We eagerly came back the next night around 6:30 pm but when were greeted they seemed confused why we had come and not made a reservation and it was a very unwelcoming feeling so... More

On this return visit to Japan, we decided to start out in Tokyo with a walking tour of Asakusa under a beautiful fall day. Fortunately we stopped by Kikko’s to have lunch after visiting the Senso-Ji temple. We were greeted by the owner and promptly seated and our lunch menu had two options of Kaiseki which consists of several small traditional... Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
