I have been coming here for about a decade over the course of a number of trips to Japan - in some way sit feels like home...just a comfy little place with delicious udon. I always get the tempura udon and they always remind me...More

This place is Kanoya Udon on its sign. The couple who runs the joint has been doing so for a long time. I met them on my first trip to Tokyo more than 10 years ago and they're still cranking along. Simple menu - tempura...More

Tasty bowls of ramen, though a little pricier than usual. Good feed, and friendly service. Alcohol and English menu available.

Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
