Tokyo has very few Japanese restaurants that are bad. Even the little Soba shop in the railway station serves good food. With Sushi, it is hard to fake. Fresh cut sushi has a definite sheen that cannot be duplicated. When sushi is served, the sheen is the first thing you notice. Next you can feel the texture of the fish... More

I still enjoy this place, although as others have said it is not what it once was. Back then, there were long lines waiting to get in. Now, they often have someone in front trying to bring people in. The service is still good, and they do have some interesting and unusual things available, although you have to ask for... More

We were huge fans of the 'old' megurobito when they were located on orange street... This was the one place we will never miss when we visit Tokyo n have recommended countless friends... Sadly, the quality has since deteriorated since they moved to their current place (think it's been more then 3years ago)... Today, we thought why not give them... More

After reading the reviews here, went with very high expectations, but were sorely disappointed. We went to the one on Nakamise street. To be fair we went way after lunch time, at 3pm, and there were only 2 more people in the restaurant. The nigiri is priced differently from 160 to 530 yen for 2 pieces per plate, so not... More

The food is very good and the counter is low and seats are not too tight as you may experience in other restaurants in Tokyo. The tables are for 4 and limited availability. There are the usual recipies but you can order and get it fresh insted of picking one from the kaiten. I suggest the shirako no tempura, it... More

The nigiri is fresh and comes in generous portions. My wife is Japanese and she likes this place a lot. Most seats are at the counter where you can grab what you like from the conveyor belt or order what you like freshly made. Same midis operandi as Sushi Train franchise. Staff are friendly and engaging. My favourite is the... More

Indeed is the best sushi in Japan! There is several dishes with all sort of delicious sushi for choose, the color of the dish is the price of the meal. We can have a generous tuna portion for only 100 iens! The staff is incredible, they speak fluent english and they are very kind, I received a welcome dish for... More

Magurobito it's a kaiten sushi restaurant (which can be translated in "conveyor belt restaurant"). You can take any of the offered sushi or order a particular one to the chef if you speak japanese well enough. In my opinion he food is one step above other kaiten sushi restaurants, dishes are made with a quick rythm. If you prefer to... More

Been to two magurobito in Asakusa. One is near asakusa exit, ginza line and the other one is near nakamise street. The one near the exit is not the kaiten type and a bit boring. The one near nakamise, I think third street on your left as soon as you pass kaminarimon is the kaiten sushi type and very enjoyable... More

We were looking for a kaiten sushi restaurant. After reading reviews of this place, we decided to walk to the Asakusa area to check it out. After wandering up and down the street multiple times, we figured out that this place is NOT a kaiten sushi place AND is standing only.

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
