Our hosts brought us to this hidden gem in Ueno park. If i heard right, the building was an old samurai's home. There is a small Shinto shrine beside it. The food has great and authentic. Sake poured freely. Our hosts graciously translated every thing...More

I visited this restaurant for dinner after visited a museum in Ueno. It is located in Ueno Park. This appearance was the typically traditional Japanese restaurant. We sat at the counter. I looked the lush greenery of the park through the large windows. The interior...More

Delicious set menu lunch meal. First course entirely Tofu in different guises... And completely delicious. Was a wonderful and relaxing break in the middle of the visit to the park area and Ueno. Traditional and peaceful.

Just to confuse things, this place is also referred to as "Innsyoutei" so if you see reviews for that, it's the same place. Innsyoutei is located right in the heart of Ueno Park and is a old house with several separate rooms, each with a...More

Inshotei is a long-established restaurant since 1875 and its old Japanese house is very quaint. Dishes were sophisticated and delicious. Presentation was beautiful and service was good.

Inshotei at lunch is a total bargain. The 2000-2600 yen bento includes a variety of amazingly well prepared dishes showcasing Japanese cuisine. These guys know how to use daishi really well. I found many of the items to truly amazing, on par with some Kaiseki,...More

Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
