Its like no other experience. The fish was braised with sake creating superb flavour. The building was in its traditional form as well. Totally recommend!!

Firstly, amazing food. If you want to experience authentic Japanese cuisine, this is the place. Unfortunately our feast was cut abruptly short by the impatient staff signalling that they were closing and we needed to get out. It was 9.15. We'd been there barely 40...More

This place has become a 'must go' every time I visit Tokyo. First with my granddad and now as a memory to granddad I go with my 94 year old grandmother. The only restaurant of it's kind in Tokyo. It serves eel-like freshwater loaches, challenging...More

I was born in Hokkaido, so I've never seen and eaten Dojou(written in Dozeu). Firstly, I was kind a shocked with the shiny skin of the fish. I could not open the chopstick because I had no idea how we eat this. My bf had...More

Nice authentic dinner in this 200 years old restaurant. Popular Unagi eel dish. Tatami seating might be awkward and cramped but the setting is worth the inconvenience. Will come back.

Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
