This udon store is operated by one of the biggest udon chain stores in Japan. The price of most dishes was around 500 yen ($5), so it's very popular among workers and students because of its cheapness. There is long queues during lunch hours. The taste was so so, but I felt OK because of cheap.

You can find these subterranean Hanamarudon cafes practically everywhere in Tokyo and if you ever find yourself after a quick bite I really cannot recommend them highly enough. If there aren't enough awe-inspiring and incredible aspects to Tokyo already that a "fast food" can be as delicious and cheap is surely one of them, something all friends and visitors from... More

We enjoyed a great lunch here in this "fast food" caefteria style Udon restaurant. Grab a tray near the door, move along the queue in front of the kitchen and get a great show of the Udon being made, then point to that nice hot udon, grab some tempura to have with it and then also enjoy the cheap price. Easy... More

If you stay at the Shibuya Tobu hotel this restaurant is extremely handy for refuelling while waiting for check in or after a long day. It's literally 100 metres away. The food is super cheap! They do have a small English menu if you need it, and the staff have always been extremely helpful despite our awkward Japanese. Just remember... More

Staying in Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu

Neighbourhood Profile
Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.
