Over the years I must have had 20 meals at various Robuchon outposts. Some better than others, but they were always enjoyable and always worthy of Robuchon’s exceptionable reputation………… until earlier this week when, at La Table in Tokyo, I had the singularly worse premium restaurant meal ever. While the food was up to standard, the dining experience was not:... More

We were excited to see that a big French star chef had a beautiful place right across from our hotel, the Westin, and decided to dine here being a bit tired of Japanese fare during our two week trip. We were also surprised that the outside menu advertised a 5500 JPY three course meal. However, that price disappeared inside when... More

" Nothing to write home about" food. Just ordinary. Lamb care was hard and was sent back to the kitchen. Waiters that hardly speak English. Replying with 'OK' for everything without even understanding your question. I expected a better staff. A waist of money!! Go to Chez Olivier.

My wife and I wanted to try a Robuchon but felt the Las Vegas site too pricey and too far. When we heard about La Table in Tokyo, we immediately booked a table on line. The online reservation was very easy but we had to provide a phone number in Japan, for which we used the hotel number. The three... More

Very different experience from l'atelier but nonetheless it was amazing, it was like a prefixed menu, you could choose from two entrances, two main courses, two desserts but everything was fantastic. The place is funny because it's like a French mansion in the middle of Tokyo, it's quite nice. I recommend it fully. Prices are reasonable for Tokyo standards.

We went to the restaurant because of his 3 stars in Michelin. We had the vegetarian menu. We were however slightly disappointed. Food was very good, but excellent for only 2 items of the menu. Service was very nice, but at time the service crew lost it as we did not speak Japanese. Fro example, they forgot about our dessert... More

Serious great food and top quality service. 3rd time and not the last for me. The quality dishes were impeccable and now they have an English translated menu which makes it easier to order.

Summary: Very good restaurant (but not as impressive as the 3 star flagship restaurant upstairs). Pros: - reasonably priced set menus (though watch out for the ever-annoying supplements). - service very good, and kitchen is accommodating to dietary requirements. - sensational desserts (I highly recommend the chocolate with salted caramel - excellent and memorable). Cons: - wine list is less... More

We visited La Table to add a bit of variety to our Tokyo dining experiences (having otherwise stuck to very good Japanese restaurants). We were extremely glad we did so - it is thoroughly deserving of its two stars. The food and service were excellent (as you would expect). Some reviewers have commented that the staff don't all speak English... More

I booked the restaurant through email quite some time before I went there. The restaurant was so nice that communicate with me back & forth regarding my food allergy info . Waiters were enthusiastic in introducing the food, yet their English level should be improved. Presentation & the taste of the dishes was awesome which made me speechless ! It... More

Staying in Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu

Neighbourhood Profile
Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.
