This fun, tonkatsu (3 choices) only restaurant features a U shaped bar facing the cooks who offer unlimited sweet Napa and rice to go with your pork. The entertainment is in observing how the head owner remembers the order of waiting patrons and then seating them. The menu is in English and Japanese, but the staff speak only Japanese. We were fortunate to sit near a local who spoke English and ordered our beer, but we could have pointed to obtain one. The location is close to the Maguro Station.

A family owned restaurant that moves the large crowds that come through in a very efficient, yet welcoming way. Everyone eats at one extended counter that wraps around the cooking area. There are only three things on the menu, all of which are variants on tonkatsu. The cabbage that came with it and the homemade sauce they make are all excellent. Enjoy it with a Japanese beer.

every time I visit Tokyo, I eat here at least once. The tonkatsu is very different, not crunchy like in other places, but it has more flavor and character, the sauce is excellent, and the miso soup is out of this world. Also, the main shop has an amazing ambience.

Tonki has several different cuts of meats for their tonkatsu but all were juicy and tender. The miso soup was loaded with bits of pork and very flavorful. You can ask for an extra bowl of rice and miso soup for free if youʻre especially hungry. I loved all the shredded cabbage - unlimited servings. Which is good since while traveling in Japan, we didnʻt eat as much salad as we do when home in the U.S.

I ordered a special rice set and pork chop curry rice The thick and flexible pork chops in the fried pork chop set meal, paired with fresh, sweet, and light eggs and sweet sauce onions, immediately amazed me! Curry is salty, while pork chops are slightly thinner compared to the former, and when paired with fragrant rice, they are particularly appetizing Delicious beyond expectations! I translated the Chinese menu of this restaurant for friends in need

This place is popular so go early or be prepared to queue! The food is great - good, tasty tonkatsu (maybe a bit different from others), miso soup (very tasty), rice and cabbage (as much as you want). Good value, good taste and good service

We would rather have been seated at the ground floor watching the chefs, but took the slightly faster option for the first floor eating area. Same food, same cost. Very very reasonable for fast service and a great experience. I loved this place.

We had dinner and ate the typical tonkatsu of this neighborhood. Excellent price and perfect service, but I wasn't personally crazy about the flavor of their specialty. The side dishes are much better. And then we end up smelling like fried food. I wouldn't do an encore again

美味しくなかった。 It really doesn’t look or taste even good, my whole family was disappointed. The queue was intensely long and the outcome of the meal was dismal.

Overrated, expensive for the quantity and quality of the food. Came here because of the good ratings but only left with disappointment and confusion. 1900 yen for set meals. Like other tonkatsu restaurants, rice and cabbage are refillable. However, the meat was dry, and the batter doesn’t attach to the meat. You end up eating the batter and the meat separately which is super annoying. The portion of the meat was not big neither, for the price that we are paying. I’ve been to many other Tonkatsu restaurants which is around the same price or even slightly cheaper, yet the quality and portion of the meat was more than what this restaurant is serving. Gave three stars because the miso soup has pork inside and it tastes quite good though. Service is good, and staff are attentive in topping up your tea, rice, and cabbage. But wouldn’t come back again and wouldn’t recommend it to my friends. Don’t understand why it is so popular and why some people say it’s the best when it’s obviously far from being it.

A bit far away from glitzy Ginza or Shibuya this Tonkatsu restaurant in Meguro offers only three dishes, namely pork cutlet in three different types. It comes deep-fried, a bit spicy mustard on the side and cabbage and rice as well as miso soup and a few condiments. You get more cabbage or rice if you want. Ground floor is the open kitchen where the patrons sit around a long counter and watch the preparation of the food. Upstairs is another dining area. But ground floor is where the action is. The quality of the food was excellent. The pork cutlet was without flaw, actually more like a pork fillet. The crispy coating very good as well. Costs you around 5,000 yen for two persons including beer. All in all very good experience. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

This is the place. It's been here for years but is nicely renovated. Still just stools round the counter downstairs but fresh, irresistible tonkatsu is the attraction. First came here 30 years ago and still coming back.

Great food and yes you have to wait but it’s all part of the evening. My forth time there I would say not all staff happy but that’s a tough tough job. 100 percent go there

This is a tonkatsu restaurant pure and simple. We used to live in Japan nearby and came here often. Twenty years later we came back for the rugby and made this trip down memory lane. We ate upstairs and it was exactly the same and just the same lovely tonkatsu (only this on menu). Unlimited cabbage and rice. Cheap meal for Tokyo in the evening. The restaurant gets packed and you might have to wait. Traditional diners go for the bar downstairs but it’s more frenetic.

We stumbled upon this restaurant a place to eat at meguro at about 9pm. Even though it's late, the restaurant (2 storeys) is packed. We know it's a good restaurant to try when we can smell the tonkatsu aroma from the entrance.
