More kinds of cheese than you can shake a stick at. It's wonderfully overwhelming. Great wine, interesting cheese, wonderful bread and cured meats in a relaxing garden setting. Take your time here and enjoy a quiet afternoon. Personal service from the owner makes for an unforgettable experience.

Oh we really loved that place! Feels like being in Italy rather than Guatemala. Such an amazing cheese selection, also the cured meats. We had an absolutely superb lunch there. Our malbec was a bit interesting though, didnt taste like malbec at all, but well it was still okay. Definitely one of the best places in Guatemala and definite number... More

I am lucky that I get to spend 2 months a year at this beautiful month. El Artesano is my favorite. Good wine, good cheese, cured meat and so much more. How can you possibly go wrong.

Do not try to go without a reservation. The chef Dietrich personally takes care of each table, and seating is limited. This is my favorite restaurant ever. You will not be disappointed. A must for anyone traveling to or living around Lake Atitlan.

You must book two weeks in advance. We tried contacting before hand but visited without a response. (Trying our luck) when we got there we met the most loveliest guy who apologised for not being able to accommodate us. He told us all about the menu. The place is just so beautifully quaint and a real gem. We spoke with... More

I am absolutely in love with this place. After 11 months on the road we were homesick for more than just friends & family. Cafe el Artesano was exactly what we needed. We got some traveler friends and headed over for an afternoon of cheese, wine, fruit, nuts, and wine. Oh my! It was so good we went back two... More

Ok, yes, you have to make reservations at least a couple weeks in advance. They have a small, simple space, and only do one seating per table per day. Not open weekends (wish they were!) and only open a few hours each day, 4 I believe. Most plates are for at least 2 people. We took a tuk tuk there,... More

El Artesano Wine and Cheese Restaurant is an exceptional Italian café that is located along the shores of Lake Atitlan in the village of San Juan La Laguna. The food and ambience are amazing. We had the cheese plate made up of 27 different soft, hard, aged, and mixed cheeses. It was delicious and the presentation looked like a work... More

What a fantastic experience! We were recommended to come by a family member and I'm so glad that we did. We had the cheese and meat platter and both were fantastic! The owner was very welcoming and knowledgable about the produce which is all local from Guatemala. Left with a full belly and a smile on my face. Would definitely... More
