Just dropped in for a fish burger, they advertised on a board out front. Average at best! Hand cut chips- nearly a handful, snapper burger with pickles??? All for $20!!!

Angler had been on my Adelaide Hills to try list for some time. We were hungry at 3pm and Angler conveniently stays open all afternoon so we stopped in. As expected fantastic seafood. We had great service. They have a small wine list that should...suit most people. Definitely try the snapper cheeseburger!More
We’d been told the ‘Trust the Chef’ degustation was excellent so we gave it a try. We were blown away. We’ve had degustations in high end restaurants so to find such quality in this unassuming little place was a delightful surprise. From the starter of...ceviche on some kind of fish cracker, warm smoked olives, pickled mussels and candied nuts, to the fresh oysters ( best I’ve ever tasted), prawns in a creamy polenta, crayfish in Jerusalem artichoke broth, snapper? sashimi with finger lime, flathead? in a bisque so good I had to restrain myself from licking the plate, to the nannygai with a perfect xo sauce ( I could eat it on its own by the spoonful), everything was perfect. Usually there are one or two things in a degustation that are a bit meh… not here. And the dessert… omg! It was a quenelle of icecream on some kind of milk caramel? with candied crunchy fish scales, which sounds disgusting but it was the perfect balance of sweet and a bit salty like the very best salted caramel. The scales were light and crispy and delicious My husband, who after two attempts has refused to eat mussels in the four decades we’ve been together, tentatively tried one and polished off the lot. I gather the chef has interned with Heston Blumenthal so maybe that’s why there is such a perfect balance of surprising flavours and sweet and salty, or perhaps it’s the chef, but the end result was the best degustation we’ve had anywhere. That everything was not only fresh but also sustainable made it even better. Highly recommended.More
Fish good Chips over done Snapper tasty Chips overcooked Lemon juicy chips crusty Tartare nice chips crappy $86 Overpriced
We ate here, invited as part of a group for a milestone birthday, with ethical food-conscious people. The restaurant is a long banquette style seating and table in this upmarket sustainable fancy 'fish and chip shop'. Decided to trust the chef to feed us and...we weren't disappointed. Among the standout dishes was beautifully sliced Sashimi, a fish wing with a delicious house-made XO sauce, and a European carp which most had not eaten before but fried and flavoured we all vowed to eat more of this pest species of the Murray. Hand cut chips were great and the waiting staff, while inexperienced, were friendly and accommodating to our questions and requests. The wine list is one of the best I've seen in terms of Adelaide Hill wines, short but sharp with something for most tastes. We would have liked to be told that we needed to order sides of vegetables but when ordered they arrived promptly and were cooked just right. A lovely evening, with everyone happy. We should have stayed for dessert...and we will returnMore
Dropped in for fish n chips for lunch, having read about Angler many times. It is a ‘cute’ little place that you wouldn’t necessarily expect to be there. We only wanted something quick so this is not a review of their dine-in menu/seating area, just...the takeaway which you can eat in their front window seating area. They had a choice of barramundi or Australian salmon that day and the barramundi was juicy and perfectly sized. Whilst we prefer crumbed fish, the panko crumbing was just bordering on too thick. I don’t think it’s fish and chips you would want ‘regularly’ as there is an element of sweetness to the seasoning of the hand cut chips in particular that starts to become too much. It has a bit of a decadent taste that really gets you interested in the first few bites, but does end up a bit overpowering. As far as the experience goes - welcoming, energetic and efficient - full marks for that!!!More
I had seen an article about Angler that was very complimentary but didn’t follow it up until a trusted friend recommended it. Dropped in unannounced on a Saturday evening and we managed to grab a couple of the few seats inside this fishy gem hidden...in Stirling. With a view of the park on the other side of the road we ordered fish and chips with sides of salad and carrots. We didn’t really need the excellent sides, as the whiting and barramundi mains were ample. The best (hand cut) chips and fabulous fish means we will be returning soon.More
Stopped in Stirling on my way home the other day, I was going to grab some sushi when I noticed this place a couple of doors down, popped in, they have fresh fish, take away fish n chips and small bar front for eat in...meals so cater to all. Had fish burger take away, very good choice, salad, bun, dressing. Nice chat to staff while I waited, has been there a year and I will definitively be back.More
Had read a good review about this place and was keen to try it. While perusing the menu a man came to return the takeaway which was not his order. They found his order and then handed that takeaway food to the original patron. Our...chips were covered in some horrible BBQ salt - we were not asked if we wanted BBQ salt. The bbq'd squid I had was so tough I could not eat half of it. The fish was lovely.More
Went with high expectations. Left bitterly disappointed. The prawn roll was essentially inedible. It was prawn sausage with not that much meat. At $22 it was a rip-off. The crumbed barramundi was fine, the chips excellent. ...but again, at $20, overpriced. The chef was also...somewhat dominating and bordering abusive to other staff. We will not return.More
I would usually avoid a fish place miles from any beach like the plague... but this was a delight to find, incredible produce, 'Jeres' is generous with both advice and samples, and I spent much more than I realized... a hidden gem in the Adelaide...Hills!More
What an experience. Today my daughter and I came to Stirling and had lunch at the Angler Fish and Chip shop. We had king George whiting with hand cut chips. Wow wow from the batter so so crispy to the fresh fish the crunchy chips...to the packaging of our meal. The customer service,it was all Excellent I can’t find a word great enough to describe how good everything was. Well done to the owners. We wish them all the very best because they deserve it. BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will be back. 👍👍👍👍👍More
Visited this spot on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. Venue was clean, open planned and staff friendly - going about their business, filleting fresh fish. Menu enticed us in, not your ordinary, run of the mill fish and chip shop. Everything on the...menu looked great but couldn’t go past the prawn hotdog with a side of chips. After I ordered another patron had their fish and chips ready to go - needless to say I had food envy. Having said that, I wasn’t disappointed with my choice - I just think anything on this menu would be good. The prawn hotdog was just as it sounds, a prawn flavoured hotdog, with a what seemed to be a fresh brioche bun, some crunch with the greens and what was called ‘angler sauce’ - was seriously tasty. The chips, well I can’t say they are the best but they are close - you need to taste the chips. Chips sometimes are an afterthought but generally, the last thing you eat are the chips - they’ve nailed them and it left me very satisfied. It’s not cheap but not over the top either - great value for the quality you get.More
Walking down the Main Street looking for a place to eat came across Angler Stirling. The restaurant looked very clean and they were advertising scallop pies. We went in and met the staff they were very friendly and very informative about there menu. We had...barramundi and chips and it was excellent and the price very good. We highly recommend this restaurant. If we ever go that way again we would stop and have something else on there menu.More
