Think old world gentlemens club with dark wood fixtures and leather and brass styling and you'll get a feeling for the beautiful styling and feel of the Arthur Waterhouse Lounge. We booked a table for dinner and were seated in a quiet intimate room off the main bar area. We had a lovely view through the verandah restaurant and across to the valley. Our meal was tasty and fresh. The wine list had a great selection. The bar staff were very attentive, friendly and very professional. Our desserts were also very tasty. We enjoyed the meal and atmosphere of the lounge very much. The meal was reasonably priced given the high quality of the meals and wine.

Great food and friendly and attentive staff.
We chose AWL over HVR as we had a day sightseeing and sampling the foods and wine of the Hills and did not want to sit down to a 3-4 course set menu in the HVR.
The menu in AWL was limited but of high quality, especially the sirloin that was cooked to perfection.
Did not quite understand why you had to order your food and drinks from the bar, given that it is an MGallery hotel (thought I was at Hahndorf Inn!).
It did detract away from the experience, but food and ambience prevailed.

Great place whether you're staying at Mt Lofty House or not, food prices on par with local restaurants but oh so yummy. Ate here twice, the two different spaghetti options (one a bolognese, the other a mushroom ragu. $38 and $35 respectively) are just divine. How can I get my bolognese tasting like this? Also had the burger ($26). And the chips that came with the burger deserve their own listing! Just awesome.
Must admit though, the food choice was quite limited - but what they do they excel at. And I'd safely guess that the food comes out of the same kitchen as Hardys Verandah Restaurant - a 3 hatted fine dining restaurant in the same venue.
Massive drink list much of which is sourced from local SA wines and distilleries.
Great service from the staff on par with an establishment of this grandeur.
Mood lighting, old English feel.

A very special alternative to Hardy's Verandah Restaurant Tucked away downstairs from the front entrance to Mt Lofty House. Leather uphostered booths plus tables and an open fire in Winter, glass doors to the garden. Great food and the benefit of the upstairs Bartender Liam's knowledge of the wine list.

Lovely atmosphere, however a little slow paced TBH. 10-15 minutes to make a reasonably basic cocktail was a little frustrating over 3 drinks and doesn't really encourage lingering - maybe this is the idea. A super lovely space just needs a bit of energy propelling it along.

We really enjoyed the food and service but the wine list is incredibly overpriced. We paid $110 for a mediocre wine that was very underwhelming considering we were in a prestige wine area.

we had a light dinner and lunch on two separate days. Service was great and the burgers were fabulous. Sitting by a fire, relaxing and eating delicious food is very decadent.

OMG bring back in time. Bar service by William was out standing. Bar food was lovely, wine by the glass is reasonably priced, over all GREAT. We dined there twice out of the 4 nites.

What more could you ask for, a beautifully cooked succulent burger. Cocktails inspired and inventive.
