I´ve been a guest several times at Horiatiko since a tour guide recommended it back in 1998. Despina is in the kitchen making genuine homemade Cretan cousine and Dimitris and his nephew Stellios are welcoming guests. You´ll find Horiatiko full of guests - most of them regulars - evening after evening. Greek food when it´s best.

I'm ashamed to admit that it has taken me so long to write this review, bit in some ways it testament to how lovely and memorable this restaurant is. I write a good number if reviews on TripAdvisor, but this has a special place in my memory of our time in Crete. We had heard from our hotel that this... More

Love the friendly staff, wonderful food, and great ambiance...a true taverna experience! The Lamb Kleftiko, Mousaka, and Pastitsio were all fantastic! You will enjoy this restaurant!

Cosy restaurant with nice service away from the main road. Good and cheap menu. Regardless it is a tourist restaurant it has some real Greek atmosphere.

A friendly welcome and really good atmosphere with traditional Greek music. We both chose traditional Greek dishes, Kleftiko and a pork dish with peppercorn sauce. Both were of excellent quality and with tasty accompaniments - you do need to be hungry as the portions are very large! The bread preceding this were served with two 'dips' , an olive tapenade... What a lovely place. Very peacefull, simpatic and lovely place to enjoy your meal. Everything was great, from start till end. Excellent service! You must taste kolokithokeftedes, they are making them the nicest! If we come again to Crete, for sure we will visit again. Recommended.

I wanted this place to be lovely. I really Did. But the service was slow and unfriendly. It was so slow that we had waited about 30 minutes until we got a drink. The food wasn't much better. Un-fresh and cold. We really were disappointed.

Our party of 4 adults and 4 kids dined at Horiatiko while in Agia Marina. It is a lovely taverna with wonderful fresh and authentic Greek food. The service is very friendly and the price are unbelievable. (We had been in Santorini before Agia Marina, so we couldn't believe the price difference! :-) ) Try the Lamb Kleftiko and the... More
