Took a day trip through the Sunshine Coast hinterland, stopping at Montville for lunch break. Checked out some restaurants on the coastal side of the main road; they offered stupendous views but unfortunately these were matched by their meal prices. These were serious restaurants. On...the other side of the road sits Shali's - a much more modest establishment. No views to speak of but an extensive menu with lots of regular budget options (burgers etc) as well as some Indian meals and some some daily specials. Ordered the tandoori chicken salad and the spinach and feta filo with salad which were both excellent, followed by coffee and yummy, inexpensive pastries. Friendly service that was perhaps a tad slow, but then they were pretty busy. Also doing takeaways.More
The menu is bakery/burgers type food on a budget... but no kids menu and no high chairs? Was disappointing as we, and at least 2 others, had small children and we left early due to their discomfort and not being able to feed them from...a high chair. Very disappointing.More
Called in for coffee and brunch, selected the breakfast special, poached eggs on toast with bacon. Waited around 10 to 15 minutes for the coffee, which wasn't bad but wasnt too hot - we then sat waiting for food. Three lots of people who arrived...several minutes after us were served with theirs, so we had to go back in and make sure they hadnt forgotten us. We then received a slice of dry toast with two very well cooked (solid) poached eggs and bacon on the side. So dry ... we both tried one mouthful and agreed that we couldnt eat it so we handed it back to them and left to go eat elsewhere. Wouldn't recommend!More

Unacceptable food, dirty cutlery,cold food,cold coffee (and I even asked for it to be extra hot!!!) forgot the eggs we ordered and it looked like a 5 year old slapped everything on the plate. No care given at all. This is the second time.. absolutely...disgusted by this place. Waste of money and shouldn’t be on such a lovely streetMore
I have been going here for years and they never disappoint! Love their wraps and burgers ! But the also do nice salads, there is something for everyone including the kids with family prices . If I need something rich I would go the lamb...and Rosemary filo with chips and gravy or an authentic Indian curry! Most days I will get a salad sand which or burger . Really nice cafe . Well this was a disappointment. I'd been here years ago on my last trip to Montville and at that time, it was delightful, good food, clean. This visit however was not a pleasant one. We waited for well over 45 min just to get a...piece of fish and a salad. The front seating area was full so we had to sit inside and the smell of rancid cooking oil was quite overwhelming. While the food was O.K I wouldn't recommend eating here. The place was not very clean and I think overpriced for the poor service and long wait time.More
We visited and it was difficult to make a decision as their menu was very extensive covering everything from curries, unusual pies and savouries, burgers, toasted sandwiches, breakfasts, salads, lasagne etc etc My tandoori salad had soft chicken that had been cooked with tandoori spices...and there was plenty of it. The flavour was beautiful and I was later told that the owner makes everything from scratch. Will definitely visit againMore
Had the vegan pie and it was absolutely delicious. Also eat here when we come to montville. Great food, very fresh and good value for money.
I've been coming to Montville for many years and frequently eat here. The food is always consistently good, they have a wide variety to cater for many different tastes, and the staff are always friendly. Seating is obviously now limited due to Covid restrictions so...it can be extremely busy during lunch times however you can always get your food to go and eat at the local park. I particularly love their range of wraps available.More
We visited this place for lunch. My husband ordered pie & chips + gravy + mashed peas $10 and I ordered tikka masala $10.50. They came on tiniest plates that were size for kids meal. The pie was super small which looked like the same...size as cupcakes. The gravy was thin. Ordering a curry from a bakery was my mistake. I should have known better. The chicken in the curry was really tender but the curry source was way too sweet. Overall this bakery is located in a tourist area, so you would expect to be ripped off anyway.More
Shali’s is a great spot, we have been there many times. A great range on the menu that suits all tastes and meals, breaks, lunch, dinner, snack, whatever you are after. Great prices, great service and always seems to be open!
The staff are so lovely & the food was just as great! The pies are the best i’ve ever had and the chips were great. The pricing is very good. This is a great place for a quick bite to eat.
Ordered the small butter chicken curry $10 and large tikka masala curry $18.50, both come with rice & poppadoms. Chicken was well cooked & good quality, sauce was lovely. Nice people, good food at a good price & served quickly. Lots of normal bakery choices...available chips, pies, milkshakes etc. would recommend this little family run place - very sweet.More
