Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our girl's family weekend was made very special with lunch at Secrets. It is situated on the edge of beautiful Lake Baroon in lush rainforest. It was my third visit over the years and I was not disappointed to celebrate a special lunch. We opted...to eat indoors in the Art Gallery section as it was a bit cool outside. The ambience there was also congenial. The carved woodwork in the entrance is particularly stunning. The staff were great: friendly and helpful. Our food was delicious, not sure about the sprouts on our panna cotta though. We ordered extra greens to supplement our mains. Maybe another special lunch in a few years time.More

Thank you Carole I will enquire about the sprouts and respond again Cheers Aldy. Your review is disappointing as you mention that our food was delicious. We have been receiving high praise both for our food and the pricing compared to our local area.

We booked a Champagne High Tea for 9 to celebrate my sisters birthday and while the setting and the view are stunning I was very disappointed with the food. It just seemed very ordinary and amongst it were two mini cupcakes that looked like they...came from Woolworths. It was $60 each plus a 15% for a Sunday booking and we also had two vegetarians so that was an extra $10 each. I had to book and pay in advance and it wasn't until we arrived that we were told it was a 2 hour booking and one of the couples had been delayed coming up from Brisbane so we didn't want to start without them so we waited in the foyer. Once we sat down nobody came near us until after 10 minutes I sent one of the party to see a waitress to say we're ready. My niece had been before and recommended it but to be honest I would say to people it wasn't worth it.More

We were a large group celebrating a special birthday and the restaurant did all they could do to accommodate us. Our setting was beautiful and the food was delicious. Communication was excellent the whole way through as when the booking was made, we did not...realise it was a Christmas in July menu. However in the long run that made no difference as all three courses were just fabulous. We really enjoyed the complimentary glass of mulled wine to start! The restaurant is a great place to celebrate .More

First visit to Secrets and our group of four all agreed we will be back. Service was very good, alcohol was well priced, and all four of us rated our food highly. Between us we had the arancini, seafood chowder, lamb korma (special), and the...pork belly. We all agreed the food was very good. Fantastic setting amongst the tree tops overlooking the lake. We will be recommending this to friends for sure.More

This was the 3rd lundh we had had at Secrets on The Lake. The first 2 times, the food and service was good & we had been recommending to friends. HOWEVER this time when we went for our 10th anniversary we were extremely disappointed. I...ordered Caramelized Crispy Pork Belly. It was so so salty and so crispy it was difficult to eat. I still had a salty taste in my mouth the next day. My partners Pork Belly was not much better. A large square of twice cooked pork , slapped on some green beans. absolutely no presentation at all. Our deserts were not much better either. Not happy and wont be back.More

I booked a table at Secrets on the Lake for lunch for myself & my parents for their birthday. We made a morning out of it and started with a scenic rainforest walk to Baroon Lookout and back (the trail leaves from nearby - highly...recommended). The staff & service at Secrets was excellent and the food was great. The standout was the location and the ambience (of course). We were seated on the deck and had wonderful views of Baroon Pocket Dam & the surrounding forest. Just beautiful. And very relaxing. You feel so close to nature. I had the lamb shank with beans & sweet potato mash and my parents had the barramundi with golden beetroot (an interesting side which I’d never seen before). We ordered juices and a milkshake which were refreshing and indulged in a piece of orange & almond cake for dessert. These were enjoyed by all. The experience of having lunch made me want to stay in one of the cabins and spend a few days here. There are some short walks you can do on the property that are for guests only & the treetop walk to the cabins gave me fomo. Maybe some other time!More

We’ve been to the cafe twice. Twice we’ve been let down. Never going back. They don’t even have a Chef as they keep resigning due to the management. The soup the first time tasted like it was watered down with no flavour. Heinz does a...better job. I gave it another go as we were staying there. I ordered Devonshire tea. The tea came out first. They forgot the scones. The tea went cold by the time the scones came out, We couldn’t even order a hot breakfast upon staying there. We received all the ingredients in a basket to cook our own! We had never been to Secrets on the lake before, the drive there was full of great scenery, when we arrived the atmosphere was breathtaking. The beautiful woodwork walking through to restaurant was amazing. We were taken to our table, facing the water, we were...in awe, that this place had such a presence. The menu was simple and refined. Even though the waitperson explained they were short staffed, it didn't matter, the gaiety, talking from other tables was intoxicating. Food was fresh and delicious, not pricey.
