Two of us came for lunch. Parking seems limited. But really scenic setting for a restaurant and ideal for celebrations. We had a table by the railing and had excellent views of Lake Baroon. The sourdough bread with truffle butter met our expectations. I had the calamari entree and personally I found it too salty (and I have a high salt threshold) and overpriced. My hubby had the lambshanks and it ticked the box for him. Food service was slow but probably because there were many and there was a big group of 12. They came later but got their food first. But our waitresses were helpful and service from them attentive. We appreciated that they moved us to a table in the air conditioned section as we were feeling the heat. Still, overall it was a pleasant experience and I'm glad we came.

Stunning views, great service from friendly, hardworking staff. Delicious, homemade food served, using fresh ingredients and the yummy desserts just melt in the mouth! Sticky date pudding ...to die for! We have never been disappointed when we have booked a table at the 'Secrets' cafe. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available too. I often bring visitors here, and they rave about the quality of their meal, the relaxed atmosphere and beautiful setting. 'Secrets' staff are always accommodating and despite being busy, the waiting time is short. We love it here and will be booking again soon. Hope to book the accomodation in 2020, as the treehouse rooms look amazing!

Thank you 1001Tales for your review. You went above and beyond with the detail and it is very much appreciated. When we dreamed up where we wanted to be with our restaurant, one of the things was to create all of our food here in our kitchens. Fresh being always the best. We have a great team as well who pull together and put our customers first. So pleased you enjoyed your visit. Kind regards George and Aldy!

I went with my partner here for lunch to celebrate his birthday. I had booked and asked for a table on the rail to take advantage of the beautiful outlook and we were not disappointed. They went to the trouble of putting a ‘happy birthday’ message on the table that was a nice touch. We had a lovely lunch that was generously portioned and was finished off with dessert that arrived with a candle, delivered by two or three staff singing happy birthday, with some restaurant patrons joining in. The staff were very friendly and obliging. If I could one respectful suggestion, it would be the dining experience would benefit from a wider selection of wines, but well done to all there. We will definitely come again...

We made a booking for Tuesday lunch last week at 1215 for my birthday. There was no parking so we parked down the bottom and walked up which was ok for us but could be problematic for the elderly etc. When we were asked our name for the booking the lady couldn't find it and kept saying "are you sure?". She then found the booking and without saying happy birthday showed us to a table with in the middle of the art gallery with no view and it felt like we were in a cafeteria. My husband went to the counter again and asked if we could be moved out to the deck as it was a special occasion and they agreed and moved us to a deck table near the walk way which was a huge improvement on the original table but still not great. We ordered 2 espresso martinis and they were great; the red pepper dip was very bland but the mains (lamb shank and Moroccan stew) were very tasty. It was however the dessert (creme Brulee) that stole the show, it was delicious. Overall, it was an ok experience soured a little by the service etc. Worth a look but I doubt we will be back.

Sorry you were disappointed with your welcome. You can be sure I will be mentioning it to the staff involved. It sounds like they were very busy at the time or they would have given you a better spot. I often mention that earlier bookings such as breakfast or an early lunch will mean that we can allocate a table on the edge with an unimpeded view and clear fine days mean we can utilise the outdoor areas. On a more positive note you were obviously very happy with your food choices. Your experience is not usual so would love to see you give us another go. Kind regards Aldy!

Had lunch food was good, it would have been a lot better had they trained there staff or had some music playing in the back ground. This place suits very old people. With in 3 min of being served food waitress came and asked to rate their food, WTF - place was nearly empty when we got there and it took them 15 min to catch me waving my arm to order wine. Decor would have been great 25 years ago. Wines were so bad i ordered 4 different glasses and it wasn’t getting any better. Food was good.

Thankyou 32 0wojteks for your review. We like to think our décor is timeless but if you don't enjoy the creativity of carved wood and ironwork, I can understand that only cement and glass will do. Background music is generally played in Secrets Dining on he Deck and the staff assure me that it was playing yesterday. For most people the views of the rainforest and Lake Baroon is enough to give them the relaxing vibes that they need to enjoy a leisurely lunch. It is easy to exaggerate when you are on a roll. Yes your partner didn't like the first glass of Sav Blanc she ordered so a different one, which was offered free of charge, was brought to your table. When our waitress began to take that first glass away you decided that you would drink it instead. On the day your 2 glasses of red were quaffed without any comment even though Alexis floor manager of the day gave you opportunity at the time. It is always best to mention when you are disappointed. It gives a chance to make amends. That being said we would welcome you back on another day but unfortunately there will always be a cross section of the community dining with us.

I would like to share my experience in the restaurant at the secrets on the lake. When we arrived I asked politely if we could have a table with a nice view as it was the first time in that place. The lady with a blond hair I think named Vanessa who was at the counter, replied in a very rude way not even letting me finish what I was saying. We ordered a bottle of wine and first of all they didn't even let us taste it, second thing they poured it filling all the glasses to the end. We asked about the dish and they told us to look at the menu! when we paid she (Vanessa again) asked us how the lunch was and we said that the food was good but the costumer service was not that much. Vanessa hasn't even apologized and I find her really unprofessional. I honestly don't recommend it if they treat customers like that! shame because the place and the kitchen are amazing!

Amazing location in montville but service was terrible. We had multiple waiters walk past us and ignore us, it took 20 plus mins to get someone’s attention to order lunch. Food was nice though

Hello Travelling with Kids sorry you were disappointed. I apologise as obviously the staff were very busy on the day. On the weekends we often have the restaurant thrown out of kilter by guests being delayed on the Bruce Highway and being late for their time slot. However no excuses, I will talk to my staff with a view to improving service time. Kind regards Aldy

For years we loved coming here, not this time, on booking we were not told there are two sittings of 1.5 hours but were told very smartly on sitting down. The place was very crowded being holiday time. The food was good but for those prices it should be and unfortunately the service was pretty average and even rude on one occasion. Will be a while before any of us feel like going back. What a pity for this beautiful location and building.

We’ve been to the cafe twice. Twice we’ve been let down. Never going back. They don’t even have a Chef as they keep resigning due to the management. The soup the first time tasted like it was watered down with no flavour. Heinz does a better job. I gave it another go as we were staying there. I ordered Devonshire tea. The tea came out first. They forgot the scones. The tea went cold by the time the scones came out, We couldn’t even order a hot breakfast upon staying there. We received all the ingredients in a basket to cook our own! Never going back,

We booked a Champagne High Tea for 9 to celebrate my sisters birthday and while the setting and the view are stunning I was very disappointed with the food. It just seemed very ordinary and amongst it were two mini cupcakes that looked like they came from Woolworths. It was $60 each plus a 15% for a Sunday booking and we also had two vegetarians so that was an extra $10 each. I had to book and pay in advance and it wasn't until we arrived that we were told it was a 2 hour booking and one of the couples had been delayed coming up from Brisbane so we didn't want to start without them so we waited in the foyer. Once we sat down nobody came near us until after 10 minutes I sent one of the party to see a waitress to say we're ready. My niece had been before and recommended it but to be honest I would say to people it wasn't worth it.

Seems like a comedy of errors. You must have purchased the Champagne High tea. We do have the classic for $50 for people who are on a budget or prefer tea or coffee. You obviously came on a Sunday. Please understand that wages are 175% on a Sunday and prep time for high teas is extensive. In general diners love our high teas as there is quite a number of hot savoury items along with delicious finger sandwiches and freshly made scones. Unfortunately, if we are going to make a living we need to do at least 2 lunch shifts and so we need to restrict to a 2 hour booking. However, we do have the Hideaway where you can book for longer for a fee. My take on this was you were stressed by the delay and that coloured how you felt about everything else. Kind regards Aldy Johnston.

Beautiful idyllic deck overlooking the lake through a veil of green rainforest trees and ferns. Friendly staff welcomed us the an ambient setting and seated us quickly despite not having a booking. Varied and tempting menu that saw us ordering the lamb shank, wagyu burger and macaroni cheese. All delicious. Drinks served to table quickly and allowing us the space to enjoy our treehouse surroundings and the spectacularly framed view.

We had never been to Secrets on the lake before, the drive there was full of great scenery, when we arrived the atmosphere was breathtaking. The beautiful woodwork walking through to restaurant was amazing. We were taken to our table, facing the water, we were in awe, that this place had such a presence. The menu was simple and refined. Even though the waitperson explained they were short staffed, it didn't matter, the gaiety, talking from other tables was intoxicating. Food was fresh and delicious, not pricey. We will be going back again, a beautiful restaurant, food and ambience abound .

My daughter took me here for a birthday lunch. To our surprise they also had a Christmas in July menu as well when we arrived. We didn't have a booking but were fortunate enough to be able to get seating. Staff were very friendly and even brought over a flower and sang happy birthday after being told we were there to celebrate my birthday. We did unfortunately encounter wet weather but the atmosphere was lovely and there was plenty of seating that was out of the rain. Such a wonderful memory it will continue to be. Thank you :)

Excellent service and food , setting fantastic, worth the effort to find this restaurant . A lot of effort has gone into building this restaurant on poles amongst the trees and palms over looking the lake. Rest rooms to a high standard, could not fault the service every person on the staff made us feel welcome. I came with my wife and had lunch which was excellent, they also do Breakfast and high teas defiantly will come again, it is advisible to book as the day we were there it was fairly full.
