Common Grounds is a great little café in the historic town of Morpeth. This little town is in the Hunter region, about 30 minutes away from the Hunter Valley main area. The café is situated alongside the Hunter river, and if you sit in the rear of the café, you have a view of the river. The café has plenty of space to eat in, whether it be with your family, friends or solo. They have an all day breakfast and lunch menu with plenty of options from eggs, avo on toast, to fish and chips. We like that the menu has plenty of options for dietary requirements, such as G/F, Vegetarian and Vegan dishes. Their sweet potato rosti was lovely. This V and Gluten Free dish is a pattie of smooth sweet potato, crispy exterior and served with beetroot hummus, salsa, lemon and greens. We also enjoyed the marinated steak sandwich with caramelised onion, roquette, smoked cheese and house made relish on Turkish Bread. Ordinarily it is made with chips, but they were kind enough to let me order salad instead. Drinks wise, there’s plenty of juices, milkshakes, smoothies and they use Glee Coffee for the coffee beans. They also have a range of sweet treats from slices to cakes. We thought the service was stellar, with the lady making every effort to make us feel welcome and well looked after.

This was our first visit to Common Grounds and it won't be our last. When family came in from out of town, we booked a table for Saturday lunch based on the positive reviews we'd read. Booking the table was easy with a prompt reply over Facebook Messenger. We were greeted by two friendly staff on arrival and despite our last minute request to squeeze in an extra person, staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. In fact, we experienced the same warm service from every staff member we encountered. Our lunch was delicious and reasonably priced, arriving quite quickly despite the cafe being full of patrons. We lingered over coffee enjoying the view and were impressed that the barista was thoughtful enough to come and check with every patron whether they would like another coffee before the machine was switched off for the day. Could not speak more highly of this cafe and would recommend it to anyone!

I’ve come here a number of times with family and friends in different group sizes. Food is always delicious and pretty fast, coffee is great and staff are really switched on even when super busy. I recommend booking a table during peak times as it’s a small dining room and very popular. Lovely view of the river out the back.

One of a plethora of cafes and restaurants located along the main drag in Morpeth. We picked this one as it had a large dining area at the back with great views over the river and the bridge. Menu had a good number of items including all the usual dishes one expects from a small cafe and the food was certainly reasonable. Staff pleasant.

Second visit for me, first time was a lovely solo lunch out the back overlooking the river. This time I had the other half with me and our dog, we sat on the verandah out the front. Great friendly service from people that have passion for their work, a great menu to select from and the food was tasty with good portions. They were kind enough to give our pup a treat so he was instantly sold. Would certainly return when in the area again. Hospitality is a tough gig at the moment but these folks are doing a great job.

Busy and vibrant cafe on the main street of Morpeth. We had brunch and found the place to be quite crowded especially with locals which is always a good sign. We both had the sweet potato rosti off the all day lunch menu and it was excellent. Plenty of variety to choose from.

Any excuse to go to Morpeth is a good one if you ask us. This hidden gem was such a great find. This little cafe held HUGE flavour! The coffee was amazing and the food even better. I think we almost ROLLED out the front door. Seating was a little cramped but we sat out the back in a sunroom and we were able to hold a conversation no problem even though it was super busy. Considering how busy it was when we arrived, food came out fairly quickly. It was great. Child friendly? Yes âś… High chairs and kids menu were available. No pram access, and the cafe is quite small so do not recommend. I recommend the dukkah eggs. The eggs were poached to perfection and the yolks were so creamy. It was served with a pesto and a relish and it was just to die for.

I have previously dined at Common Grounds and always had a great experience. I do have to say it was some time ago perhaps when it was under other ownership or there was a different chef. I had breakfast here with family and have to say it was terrible and not value for money at all. We had scrambled eggs which were dry, an omelette which was also dry and not very flavoursome. The big breakfast is in no way a "big breakfast", one serving of bacon with a few mushrooms, half a tomato, a hash brown and dry eggs. We were certainly not impressed with the food nor the price we paid. Very disappointed and will not be returning.

Stumbled across this hidden gem in Morpeth! Beautiful Cafe with dining available on the back deck over the river, or in the bay window in the front overlooking main street. The menu was great, with so many options to cater for various allergies. We had the potato rosti, sweet potato chips, and then Anzac biscuits to take with us. The food was so delicious, and fresh. They had a good range of food, it was fast and food was hot. Staff were very friendly and helpful, will definitely be going back on my next visit to Morpeth

I had a lovely brunch at Common Grounds in Morpeth. The cafe was nice and warm, and the view overlooking the Hunter River and Morpeth Bridge was fab. I enjoyed my coffee and Potato Rosti and will be back to sample more of the all day breakfast menu. Thanks to the friendly staff :)

We had coffee the day before and returned the next day as the breakfasts we had seen looked so yummy. We weren’t disappointed. This was probably the most delicious cooked breakfast I have ever had. Nicely presented and the poached eggs and bacon were spot-on. Good coffee too. Nice ambience with pleasant spaces inside and out.

Love the vibe of this place. It's modern and has a great menu! Coffee is delicious and worth visiting this place alone. Great offering for Gluten Intolerant peeps. Can have lengthy waits if you go when it's busy but the team there work hard to appease all! Well worth a visit if heading to Morpeth

Initially I was going to have breaky across the road at another cafe with the family but the menu was sad to say the least and not vegan friendly. So I took off on a solo mission. So glad I did. Common Grounds has a legit vegan friendly list of options, I had the vegan breaky wrap and it was great. The service was outstanding too. Would 100% recommend this place. I had a great experience.

We booked well in advance for a mature grouo of 20. The establishment overlooks the levee and the historic bridge and was the most pleasent spoy for a lomg linch. The staff were fantastic and could not have been more helpful and effiecient. The Nebu was extensive and the food extrordinary. The lunch was the hilite of our weekend visit. Well don to the staff!
