This is a real asador or roasting place. There is a big, wood fired oven as you come in which is where the serious cooking goes on. The thing to eat is a quarter leg of lamb ("lechazo") which feeds two. All they ask is what you want with it. A simple salad is great and we had the local... More

Was told about this place by a local and we went early afternoon. We did not have a reservation (we got very lucky). They did find us a table for 2 though, even though the place was full. Its multi level and the basement cellar is a very neat place! We ate on top level and our waiter was great!... More

We were traveling through Penafiel and happened on the place. Since we were still eating on earlier North American internal clocks, we had the place to our selves for most of our visit. The service was prompt. The food was quite good.

As explained by numerous earlier reviews the lamb is amazing. One warning however is that if you want to try the famous Lechazo, you must order at least two hours before your reservation. Fabulous service by a waiter who simply couldn't do enough to please us.

Beautiful meal and wonderful service. We ordered the roasted lamb, the house salad of simple tomato, lettuce, and onion, and the white asparagus. The lechazo was amazing - we have never had lamb prepared this way with the crispy skin and the meat so tender you could cut with butter knife. All the accompaniments were perfect. Take the servers recommendations... More

We stopped on way to Peñafiel. We did not want asado and opted for raciones and the recommended reserve wine. The boletus were delicious as was the revuelto de morcilla. We had the asparagus and foie too. Warm white asparagus is not usual jut the bed of grated veggies and cheese somehow worked. Service and overall experience good -recommended,

Peñafiel is a little town in Rivera de Duero, cradle of great wines and vineries. The restaurante is very nice, in three level underground, very confortable and reminds you the Spain of the 60´s. The personal was real nice, ant he food just amazing. One of the best lamb you can eat in Spain cooked in a handmade oven. I... More

The lamb leg, was just simply phenomenal. Totally enjoyed every single bite of it. Loved the whole meal actually. We made a reservation for 9pm and were the first ones in the restaurant. Had a wonderful time and experience, checking out and exploring the bodega. Don't see many of those kinds of wine cellars so it was indeed, memorable. Waiter... More

We stumbled across this resteraunt after trying to visit the local castle which was closed. From the outside it looks like a small bar but opens up into a tardis of a place which is full of history. We chose the menu del die fixed menu at 12 euro which had a choice of starters and mains, a bread roll,water... More

Me and my family enjoyed eating the " Lechazo"(lamb leg). I recommend that. Good wine from Ribeira del Duero is also served.but you've got to be hungry because dishes are huge.
