Went for a family members birthday and it was tarnished by very poor service. It's about time this pub employs trained staff or actually trains their existing staff to a higher level. This pub/restaurant is going downhill rapidly. 4 tables being used on a Sunday lunch time.

We had been here before but this visit was excellent all went right with our order and the ambience of the place and the friendliness of the staff.

How disappointed I found the meal compared to previous visits. The reason for going to Friars Oak was that it had good disabled access as well as good food. Either the Chef had gone or it was his day off. Two of my party had the roast beef which they said everything on the plate had been reheated. My friend... More

Visited today for lunch with my grand children and family member. The service was too slow and very hurried. The two bar staff were serving the tables and also dealing with drinks etc. We waited nearly 45 mins for food, my grandchildren were unimpressed as they were starving. I have been there many times in the past, the last time... More

Six of us were going to have Sunday lunch but decided against it when we heard three different parties complaining at the bar. We ended up ordering two sausage and chips for the children and they even got that wrong and we had to send it back ! Our beer was full of sediment as thick as soup but tasted... More

Can't knock the food and drink at The Friars but the service wasn't the best. They tried hard but there was just something missing. Perhaps they were understaffed because everything was just a little on the slow side. They had run out of most of the Sunday roasts and we had to rethink our order 3 times. However after saying... This was not typical of our usual visits here. Service was very slow - had to wait about 10 minutes for drinks order then another 10 for their delivery. Meal took 50 minutes to arrive. When it did, it wasn't hot enough. We declined to pay for one meal (of four). Questioning the waiter, not only were they short of... More

My family and I have eaten, on several occasions, at the Friars Oak - our overall experience has been very positive until this Sunday April 2nd. There were four of us and, although booked, we chose to eat outside due to the lovely weather. We were informed that we would need to order at the bar, not a problem, we were... More

We were a party of 4 on a Saturday evening ... what should be a prime time. The Fish & Chips and the chicken was unavailable which was a real disappointment. I ordered the wagyu burger which was overcooked and hence could have been a burger from the cheap range at Tesco's ... it could have been anything, but was... More

Burger was under cooked and garlic bread burnt. A child would have done a better job at cooking the 2 dead simple dishes we ordered. I won't go back for food and would not recommend to my worse enemy.
