Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a Japanese restaurant located on the grounds of Kamenoi Besso in Yufuin. We made a reservation for lunch on Sunday at 11:30. When we sat down, the restaurant was almost full. We ordered a whole eel on rice for 5,500 yen and a Kyushu Kuroge Wagyu steak set for 3,960 yen. I think the eel on rice is farmed, but it was fatty and delicious. I was happy to be given a small bottle of eel sauce. The Kuroge Wagyu steak was also fatty and went very well with the rice. For dessert, we were served comfort apples pickled in red wine. I'm grateful for this as I have a sweet tooth. It was a very satisfying lunch. Thank you for the meal.

A really great restaurant combining a fantastic setting, comfortable environment and quality of food. The focus is really on the quality of local products. No chase for innovation but the chase for the right taste. Really worth it.

Service was ok. Bungo beef meals were great. Location is superb in the middle of lush greenery near Kinrinko lake. Reservation needed though. Will come back next time!

Let's start with compliments. The ambience is great, cozy and nice, warm lighting and elevator music as expected in a Hugh end restaurant. I ordered the Oita Wagyu Steak Course which was really good. My medium rare steak with a dash of Wasabi melts in the mouth. Really very good for the price. The homemade toufu that was part of the Course was uniquely tasty. Next, the area for improvements. My wife ordered the Unagi broiled in soy-based sauces. It was probably the worst than those we could have bought at the supermarket. Disappointing for 5,000yen we paid for a full size order. While there was English menu, the staff had limited English ability, which i suppose was consistent with this community. If they wanted more tourist to return, they should be more English ready.

I got a large steak don which was very juicy and tender, worth the money! We also ordered chicken set and steak set which were good as well. Good service, family friendly, English menu available. I would say that it’s one of the best meals we had during our trip!

Nice restaurant for lunch at Yufuin. The restaurant located near the Kirinko Lake. Lunch menu(they have English menu) were set menu and a-la-cart. The Waygu beef set cost 3300 yen and greatly recommended. But the eel set was only so so. Overall nice family lunch.

While the price may be rather high costing ~2500yen per person, the dishes, namely the wagyu beef, soba, and unagi are all authentic and definitely worth its price.

Yufuin info center recommended me this restaurant so I tried without big expectation. Location is near to Kinrinko lake and very nice atmosphere. I love the meat and chicken stock soup. The rice ball was also very nice. It was the best Wagyu I ever had in my life. Staff are kind and very friendly. If you are fed up with convenient store bento, or small restaurant's dishes, pls try this one while in Yufuin.

Yunotake An is run by Kamenoi Besso, one of the top 3 prestigious inns in Yufuin and our #1 favorite. They have two authentic Japanese courses, which you need to reserve in advance but there is also a shorter dinner course (about 3600 yen) and a steak course (about 5000 yen). There is also a kids plate for 1500 yen. The quality of these courses were well above the price. It's a way to enjoy the best of beef, fish and lots of local tasty vegetables at a reasonable price. Highly recommend it.
