Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is a coffee shop where you must sit down and have a cup of coffee and enjoy the beautiful lake view. The beautiful view of the lake is paired with Scone and cake rolls. With a cup of coffee, you can take a good photo of the young people ~ It can be said that you should go to "Jinlin" The only place you must pass by "Lake" is a complex building that combines the "Cafe La Ruche" coffee shop and the "Marc Chagall museum". The outdoor seats of the cafe directly face "Jinlin Lake". You can not only enjoy the beautiful lake view while dining. The guests dining here look relaxed and elegant when taking photos. After entering the room, the space inside is divided into two. The oneside belongs to the art gallery, where some postcards, artworks, etc. will be on display and sold. the otherside is the space belonging to the "Cafe La Ruche" coffee shop.

This is definitely THE place to have coffee in Yufuin. Very nicely decorated with a beautiful ceramic gallery attached and overlooking a lovely pond/lake. Excellent service, and good coffee.. Like many/most coffee shops in Japan, they only serve coffee and possible a biscuit or cake... or in this case... a decent croissant.

My fiancé and I came here for breakfast while we were staying in Yufuin. It is in a lovely location beside lake Kinrin at the foot of Mount Yufu. Come early to avoid the crowds - the view from the restaurant overlooking the lake and the Japanese garden is amazing.

We stopped for breakfast here during our walk around Yufuin. Excellent croissant and pain au chocolat ( and I live in France) and great coffee, all with a view of the small lake. There's a ceramics display and a small gift shop that carries different products to mych of the other touristy offerings in Yufuin.

Forget about having breakfast in your hotel. Wake up early and have breakfast here. Fantastic view of the lake in the morning, food is not bad but the view and ambience is well worth waking up early for. They do serve a pretty decent coffee here

The staff looking at us like air, no greeting at all. We have waited for 10 mins before a staff approaching us for seat arrangement, there are plenty out door seats. Ice cream is sweeter than any of the ice cream shop on the street.

Breakfast there is pleasant with a nice view of Kinrin Lake. There is a museum of the artist Chagall on the second floor and a shop with artsy bookmarks and other souvenirs for sale. Nice place to stop for coffee if you walked to visit the lake from the train station.

A cafe with great view of Kinrin Lake (Kinrinko). On a sunny day, this place is a truly a place to just sit in, drink your favourite cup of coffee and just chill. If you choose to sit indoor, you'll find that the vintage-style interior design plays its main part in creating a nostalgic, artistic atmosphere. If you opt for an outdoor seat, views of Kinrin Lake and Mount Yufu is breathtaking. Coffee is of great quality. Desserts are a bit sweet for me though. The shop also has its own gallery and a small souvenir shop, be sure to check it out.

After research the night before, this cafe seems like the only restaurant in town that serves western breakfast. After reading through the menu, it seems they are proud of their Danish bread and scones. So, I had the cheese toast and my boyfriend had the mushroom bacon sandwich. I was right of course! The Danish bread is croissant like and it was scrumptious. Coffee was ok. Flavour was not strong at all and not very fragrant. Portion was very little and my boyfriend’s sandwich was super mediocre, hence why my rating is not high for them. It’s a tourist spot, so you are paying for the Kirin lake view with food on the side. Ps. Fall view was beautiful to see the change of leaves colours by the lake.

Initially I wanted to have lunch but the menu are western dishes only. So I just chnaged my mind to look for local restaurant. On my way out, I could see they sell local Japanese desserts at the door way. I just bought one then tasted it. It was very very good. I like Youkan in Japan, so I always buy whenever I visit Japan. This time, I could taste one of bests in Japan. It would be good dessert.

On a relaxing day wandering around Yufuin Onsen shopping street, we visited Kinrin Lake and had afternoon tea at Cafe La Ruche by the lake side. Our table overlooked Lake Kinrin. The views and atmosphere were impressive. The food was average though.

Relax, Romantic place for a perfect Weekend. Nice comfort foods with wonderful lake view. Must come a bit early for a good place to seat. Limited car park available, but it is fine if you don't mind for a walk.

Perfect place to enjoy the view of Lake Kinrin. The yufuin milk they serve is also really fresh, we enjoyed it with a scone breakfast and apple cinnamon toast.

Really enjoyed Cafe la Ruche during my stay in Yufuin. The view over the little lake is charming. Had the 'open sandwhich' and a lemon yuzu squash - both were very delicious!!
